Street Fighter V: Microtransaction Simulator 2019 question

I finally caved and got SFV: Arcade Edition after the Trial expired because well, it was on sale and several of my friends are actually actively playing it.

I'm actually amazed by the sheer brazenness of the whole Fight Money system and am wondering if I'm misunderstanding and/or doing something wrong. So the most I've been able to collect as reward is from the mind-numbingly boring Story Mode, playing each individual character. Each fight gets you something like 2k or 3k of currency so I've been determined to grind my way through. I've also been trying to do Trials, Demonstrations, Extra Battles, whatever "extra" shit there is just to see if it earns me FM...most of it doesn't.

This bring me to my big question:

Is 50 FM in a Ranked Match seriously the only fucking way to earn FM beyond these single player modes? It can't be and I must be overlooking something, no?

Neither Battle Lounge nor Casual Match matches seem to yield any reward on that front and I'm baffled that a Ranked Match would yield...FIFTY. The average stage costs seventy THOUSAND FM. That's 1,400 matches.

I know I'm late to the party with shitting on this game's FM system but seriously, am I overlooking something here or is it just solely designed to be Microtransaction Simulator 2019 (or 2016 if you wish)?

And yes, I get most of this shit I don't actually need but naturally the coolest stages and non-stupid looking outfits are locked even in the Arcade Edition which I had assumed to be mostly complete at this point.

Yeah, individual online matches are the worst way to earn money.  Exhausting all the single player stuff is where you want to be focusing if you're trying to grind FM.  Story mode for each character, leveling up each character (1k per level), character demonstrations, challenges, etc.  I haven't really focused on it at all because I got my boy Guile so I don't really need FM for anything.

So what do you when that's all exhausted...?

Is there any other online fighting way to earn more money than those absurd 50 FM rewards?

Wait.  Whenever there's new challenges posted you can use those.  Also whenever there's a new fighter available they'll post fighter demos that you can do for FM rewards (1k each I think).

Not that I've seen. :/

Yea, kind of expected that.

I swear this game is designed like some F2P service, it's amazing how much shit even the Arcade Edition is missing at every turn.

It's too bad because I'm truly getting into fighting my friends online, something I've never been into before. I'm starting to get the exhilaration of beating a human opponent. The urge to drive over and beat their asses in real life is something I need to let go of though haha

They nerfed getting fight money after so many seasons of the game. You used to be able to get it for doing Survival but from what I understand that only works once now.

You're never going to get enough to buy everyone so either buy who you want or buy a pack.

It's designed like Killer Instinct which is Free to Play but didn't beg you to grind for currency, except you need to pay then pay some more.

Maybe you should play KI instead. It's got a way better training mode too.

The whole aesthetic of KI turns me off big time. I've always mainly liked Samurai Shodown and Street Fighter out of all the fighting game franchises.

On another note, I don't understand the online matchmaking system at all. I'm getting matched by league (I'm Bronze) against players who have like 4,000 fucking played matches. From what I can tell, it doesn't take the amount of played matches into account at all yet to me it would seem like all that should count when matching players, no?

I might be wrong on that but it seems that way and my first excursion into online fighting games here is increasingly becoming frustrating yet addictive instead of actually fun. Not a good combination.

Well if you're judging the aesthetic based on looks, well I can't blame you if you're judging on how it looked on SNES. It looks fine on Xbone / PC. They also did something unique with the new KI is that every character has like a power/gimmick thing which makes every character feel truly unique. Like Aria is a robot that breaks into pieces and has 3 forms while someone like fulgore has a meter that fills up that makes him attack faster and faster. Plus combo breakers and stuff is pretty cool especially if you're someone who doesn't like getting bodied by combos. :p

I used the term loosely but I just don't like the whole demon-whatever fantasy thing. I really like Street Fighter because I do kickboxing and a lot of Ken's moveset for example is a pretty cool approximation of it and so on. Sam Sho I always really liked for the weapon based fighting but if it's not that, I like straight martial arts in the street kind of fighters.

Total games played is no indication of skill. A player with1k games but is bronze is likely to have reached their ceiling and would be a good match for other bronze players.

And yet every Battle Lounge is filled with Rookie players that have a thousand+ total games and absolutely crush everyone else. Do people use cheats to bring their league stats down to do this shit or what is going on then? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just don't get that part I guess.

I'm new to online fighters like I said and while it's really cool and fun to have someone even remotely even skilled, there are very long streaks so far of people with a crazy win ratio and total matches destroying everyone in low ranks. Just getting really frustrated with the whole experience and can't seem to grasp how it all works as it appears all over the place.

Also what does the level next to your character indicate? There are LP, levels next to your character face and a different level counter, I never know what's what.

Your issue is your in BL, people love to smurf there. If your looking more of a even fight play ranked. You will get some smurfs there but not like BL.

Thanks for the tip, will start sticking to that and just ignore worrying about LP score. I see numbers, I worry.
