Wanzhou Meng, who is also the deputy chair of Huawei’s board and the daughter of company founder Ren Zhengfei, was arrested in Vancouver at the request of U.S. authorities. So the US president is openly discussing using a political prisoner as leverage in trade negotiations. Some in Canada are suggesting she be released by Canada to prevent that.
