CitizenVectron
I'll be in town for 4 nights in April - anyone have any suggestions based on having visited there before, or living there? Primary considerations are food since the weather won't be great. We're staying in Old Montreal, so a decent area for touristy stuff, and will be taking transit/uber while there. dualhunter
A lot of stuff will be in the Old Port (lots of restaurants and museums such as the Science Museum). Weather could be great. 2 days ago it was really warm, yesterday and this morning were freezing and now it's going back to warm so don't be surprised if one day it is -20 and 2 days later 20. Just hope there isn't another icestorm. Besides the Old Port, the Olympic Stadium is at a metro stop and there is other stuff there such as the Biodome. If the weather is nice you can go to Mount Royal (hiking paths and look out over the city) or walk along the Lachine canal (head west from the Old Port area). If the weather is bad you can explore the underground city downtown. Chinatown is right near the Old Port. For transit, Zone A covers the island of Montreal (metro, bus and commuter train) but be careful if you go off the island. For example, the yellow line only has 3 stops, the middle stop is on its own island (in warmer months it would be a good place to go, La Ronde, the local Six Flags is there and various festivals are held there) but if you go past it to the last stop you will need to buy a ticket to get back even if you have a pass since it is a different zone. 1
