I just couldn’t take it seriously at all, it felt like it was Tom Hanks playing Tom Hanks playing Geppetto. It's even better because they replaced the old dude that was whipping and shipping the donkeys with straight out of Game of Thrones smoke demons. I should note, Luke Evans is great as the old dude here. Who didn't like Luke Evans? The smoke monsters were a bit much for my kids though.
