CastletonSnob Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 The other day, I bought an original Gray Playstation from a game store. On my new (New to me) PS1, I keep getting the "Memory Card/CD Player" screen, even though my discs aren't that scratched. Could it just be the age of the console? Quote

chakoo Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Check the Laser, also what model is the unit? You could try flipping it upside down if it's an early gen model (pre SCPH-5000). Quote
AbsolutSurgen Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 It's probably too late to recommend the Walmart swap. 1 1 1 Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Time to get an xstation so you don't have to use CDs anymore. Quote
CastletonSnob Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 Do you know if the store will replace the laser for me? Quote

CastletonSnob Posted April 15, 2022 Author Posted April 15, 2022 Wait, the store's site says they do console repairs. Quote
CastletonSnob Posted April 16, 2022 Author Posted April 16, 2022 I got my PS1 replaced, and the new one works MUCH better. Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted April 16, 2022 Posted April 16, 2022 Still would be better if you modded it with an xstation. Quote
