CastletonSnob
Why don't any of the big 3 market their consoles more in China and India? Combined, the two countries make up more than a third of the world's total population. You'd think they'd be trying harder to sell their consoles there. The Chinese government has strict regulation on the consoles so they are terrible value. Consumers import or buy grey market version instead. SimpleG
India doesnt really have console gaming culture not to mention the retail cost for them is very high, PS5 and XSX retail at $700.
AbsolutSurgen
Console gaming requires a minimum amount of income, and government acceptance of the ecosystem. Those don't exist in large numbers in those countries. The population of Africa is ~1.4B -- and console sales are almost nonexistent there. chakoo
few reasons 1. Cost, consoles in local currency are extremely expensive for most consumers. 2. Even though consoles were still easily to obtain during the years they were banned they still didn't really take off as much. Mobile and Internet cafe are still the main markets. 3. Local region restrictions make it kind of stupid to not buy from the grey market instead (ie imported units from hk/tw/jp) as very few games get approved for actual sale by the government and most often the system is region locked to only titles released in china. In #3 case, take the 3DS that was launched in china. The system came with 2 games pre-installed (Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7). Even though the system was sold/distributed by company nintendo owned part of (iQue), no further games ever came out in mainland china. Keyser_Soze
Console makers need more F2P games to get the attention of those countries.
