Defining your personality by one characteristic is something people do far too often, and it just limits your life.
Yeah it can be a million things; politics, religion, or philosophy... Multidimensionalism is way more interesting.

Wish these were available somewhere else. I've got Netflix, Disney+, Prime... I don't really want to get Paramount too.

Maybe I'm an idiot but I feel like id be a more confident dater now than when I was in my 20s. (I'm 41 and have been with the same person since I was 25.)
I think that makes a lot of sense. At 41 you probably have a much greater sense of what you want and need from a partner... That's certainly how I feel at 38. And as you can see by how much I've posted in this thread, I know a lot more about what I don't want than I did in my 20s too.

There are some obvious allowed exceptions to the rule, of course.

I thought of another one thanks to the Taylor Swift Person of the Year thread over on the CEB:
Making your personality all about just one thing or person.

Chuds really care about what happens in sf while their kids overdose on fentanyl in the flyover states
Off topic, and at the risk of annoying you with unsolicited advice: I'd suggest you avoid using the term "flyover state" going forward; it's not a good look for you or indeed anybody, IMO, and I think your point stands just as well without it.
As my grandpa used to say: "No generalization is worth a damn, including this one."

Purchased! Steam tells me I've put in almost 80 hours into the regular game and previous DLC, so... I'm expecting great things from this.

Also for the movie itself, I didn't think it actually looked that bad, though I suspect it will be very hamfisted with its morality.

I should explain a little: in every single big budget civil war movie ever made, the confederates are either not portrayed at all (Lincoln, Glory), the movie "both sideses" the war (Gettysburg, Gods and Generals), or the protagonist IS A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER (Josey Wales, cold mountain, ride with the devil, etc). No movie ever even attempts to say the cause of the south was evil and the people were evil for supporting it. None. Why do we attempt to keep gently caressing these long-dead slavers that lived 150 years ago? Fuck em.
I have no less than 3 ancestors who fought for the South in the civil war, and the only reason I hope an afterlife exists is to ensure they're burning in hell. Either that or the Buddhists were right and they got reincarnated as a fucking bed bug.
IMO you're right about it being a long ass time ago and the fact that people should get the fuck over it already, be on the right side of history, etc.
BUT....
I also wonder if practically speaking, unfortunately too many people are still attached to the Lost Cause narrative for studios to want to alienate them (i.e. not get their money).

So they were going to stick with the plan if he got away with it
Knowing nothing of the details of this particular case, at first thought I theoretically wouldn't have a problem with this, honestly. It does happen that people, including and maybe especially famous people, are sometimes falsely accused, and waiting for our judicial system to complete its process before jumping to conclusions seems reasonable to me.

@Remarkableriots What's your budget and what exactly are your requirements? I found this reddit thread that had a couple specific suggestions, but 1) it's a year old so there may be better options and 2) without knowing a bit more of your requirements, I'm not sure if they're right for you. It might be a good place to start though.

Trump’s rhetoric in final campaign sprint goes to new dark extremes | CNN Politics
WWW.CNN.COM
Donald Trump’s rhetoric dropped to a spine-tingling new low this weekend with less than a month before the Iowa caucuses. As has been said many times: It's not Trump's rhetoric itself that is so worrying to me, because there are always crazy assholes. What's upsetting is how many others are going along with him even now.

Texas power plants have no responsibility to provide electricity in emergencies, judges rule
WWW.KUT.ORG
A panel of judges has said that big power companies cannot be held liable for failure to provide electricity during the 2021 blackout. The reason is Texas’ deregulated energy market. Now That's What I Call Freedom, Vol. 1845!

If The Killing of a Sacred Deer is maybe my second least favorite movie of all time (behind Green Lantern 2011), is there any hope that I'd like this movie?
I haven't seen anything else by this director, unfortunately.

I saw this last night and really enjoyed it. It's odd, to be sure, but it's also hilarious, visually fascinating, and at times very moving too. It kind of made me think it was like a weird lovechild of Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, and Frankenstein. Incredible style and wonderful acting by all involved.

[update] Donald Trump is back on Colorado’s 2024 primary ballot while state GOP appeals

A more accurate/complete headline would be:
"Colorado supreme court justices face death threats after Trump ruling and right-wing media incitement."
