  1. The UK's infection numbers are pretty mind boggling. I have no doubt that America will soon break the previous daily infection numbers. Give it a week or two...And combine it with everyone getting together for Christmas and NYE, it's going to be brutal.
  2. It affects the budget, so it could be passed under reconciliation rules with a simple majority. Like I said the other day, if the child tax credit is important enough, then the Senate should absolutely use its remaining reconciliation vote to pass it. You all are trying to reach for the stars with BBB when you could have just been reaching for the cabinet where you keep your cereal.
  3. The Senate gets something like 3 reconciliation bills per year. If BBB is dead, maybe the Democrats should refocus on singular topics (or at least paired down omnibus type bills) that could pas with the 50 vote threshold. As long as they are budget related, they can technically be passed via reconciliation.
  4. Voting rights should have been the priority this entire time!
  5. Being super strict about lockdowns and masks is not a winning strategy anymore. I'm sure people like Polis understand this.
  6. I had to pay $43 for the Bob's Burgers Monopoly set. Expensive! But worth it!
  7. Growing up, I had some Mexican immigrant neighbors. To this day, the mother doesn't speak English, but the father can speak enough English to be good acquaintances with my dad. Their children though - all born in America, are all incredibly successful. The youngest is an investment banker (or something like that), and are fully integrated into American culture, while still maintaining the the connections to their heritage.
  8. It took Ford over a month to build the vehicle I ordered, a process that would normally take around 2 days. Chip shortages are affecting almost every sector of the economy.
  9. Which tribe has ownership of North America? They fought bloody wars all the time - there wasn't some unified native culture over here.
  10. Is there anything inherently wrong with insisting that immigrants assimilate to the prevailing culture of the country they moved to?
  11. NGL, as much of a dweeb Musk is, his companies have had a huge impact on their respective industries. I really doubt the likes of GM, Ford, and other big automakers would be working on electrifying their cars if it wasn't for Tesla dominating that market right now. Same with reusable rockets. It was only a few years ago that every rocket company besides SpaceX thought reusability was stupid - now nearly every rocket company (established and startup alike), as well as national space programs, are trying to copy what SpaceX is doing. "If Musk didn't do it, someone else would have" Maybe. But they didn't.
  12. There is a feedback loop at play here. Just like when you tell your teenage child they can't wear something because it is inappropriate...Well now they are just going to wear it even harder and more often, and make sure you know they are doing it as a middle finger to you! Liberals, it's your fault gun culture is what it is.
  13. California has nearly the same gun murder rate as Arizona - which is famous for having a bare minimum of gun laws. You don't even need a license to carry concealed in Arizona. Would California have a lower murder rate if their gun laws were even stricter? I don't know. But I don't think their current gun laws are actually effective at curbing gun violence. Credit where credit is due though - I do think California's 10 day waiting period likely does help prevent a nominal number of suicides. But if you already own one or more guns and have suicidal ideations, this law is probably meaningless.
  14. I'm not sure how often accidents happen when minors are properly supervised while firing guns, but I'd imagine the rate is pretty low. Of course, when minors are left unsupervised and around guns, then accidents are more likely to happen.
