  1. Yes. It's very meme-y, but has some truth to it. However, even if Germany completely went away from fossil fuel usage for power generation, they still heat their homes with natural gas. Converting an entire nation from natural gas heating to electric heating would take a huge amount of time, money and effort that they just weren't prepared to do.

  8. Yeah you're probably right. Playing around in Google Maps, Kiev is less than 1000 km from Kaliningrad too, and I'm assuming Russia has naval forces with the ability to strike into Ukraine located there.
  9. What would happen if Turkey cut off Russia's access to the Black Sea? Not that it would necessarily affect what Russia plans to do in Ukraine, but it would prevent the Russian naval fleet from entering and exiting the Black Sea.
