I assume these guys just looked at the real estate market and figured leveraged buyouts were the best thing ever and had no chance of blowing back in their faces when interest rates changed. Smart folks.

Heart goes out to you, man. It's the hardest thing in the world. Getting another dog helped me and my wife a lot when ours passed away earlier in the year. Happy memories with Buddy, and the next one.
