  1. It really is. People have talked for years about how testy the Current Events board can be, and while there are some really good posters on Reset's political aside, there are also a lot of people who are just... gee zuz, they hate being contradicted, they seem like impressionable people in their late teens, or they're Democrats but without an ideology instead of progressives who are registered Dems. It can get pretty weird.
  2. I wanna know who fuckle was, but if it's a privacy thing, no biggie. I don't have to know shit. New Zealand's PM will not utter his name.
  3. It was a person whose username was either RGB or something Ruth-Bader Ginsburg related. The person thought they could act what he perceived as far-left but he was easily sniffed out.
  4. I can now officially say that I may have beaten that. One group was called in, and all but 20 of us left. So I'm already going home
  5. How I feel. Political talk can be annoying (some people just make shit up, and I enjoy correcting them since I follow the TOS doing it ), but it's actually underrated how many people there aren't one of the stereotypical GAF/Era people we think of. One example is someone who had an RGB-type user name and talked about being a strong woman with most of her posts and getting people on their misogyny. She was perma'd because everyone read her (probably his) posts and went, "You know, you sound like what others stereotype the board as and not an actual user." Which means despite the reputation the board has in many circles, it's actually easy to sniff out the alts who are there to cause trouble. So there are plenty of sane as shit people there. And there are so many people who know about so many games and genres. But I enjoy that, while it can get tense here, it's remarkably chill and really community-driven compared to many other boards, whereas it can get really toxic there. I don't go here because it's super active (though I wouldn't mind more users); I go because it's mostly enjoyable to talk games, entertainment and current events, and you can just be stupid here sometimes and we know each other enough that it's cool. I go there for the large userbase and the hundreds of communities for almost all topics.
  6. I'm in the jury selection process right now, just waiting. It's actually more convenient than I would have thought. I'm at a desk with outlets for my laptop and kindle, and if I'm going to be here for hours, at least I can entertain myself here. The only thing I neglected to bring was a pair of headphones for my laptop. Otherwise, I guess I'm set? Have you been called for jury duty?

  8. I think there has definitely been a lot of sexism against HRC. And people hinging 2020 over whether she exists are weird. That said, after two failed attempts at the presidency, I'm not surprised nobody wants her running again. I voted for her enthusiastically and I'd rather she stay out of it completely.
  9. Is that really the case, or is it because we haven't had enough people of color yet to measure? Even 20 years ago, Congress and the people running in it were almost all white, so it's a lot easier for someone to lose a lower race and go for a higher one who's white when they're almost all white. Recently, I heard rumbling about Stacey Abrams after 2018 in regards to a possible 2020 run, which she doesn't want to do right now (and honestly, I think Beto should work on winning a statewide Texas race and really shaking things up there politically).
  10. Stephen Colbert: I am America (And So Can You). Just lemme know what the shipping costs are once they're shipped. Thanks!
  11. I get ya. When Anthem was revealed, one of the main criticisms/observations I saw was, "I guess EA wanted in on that Destiny action." Not to mention the OT on this board is "Official Thread of Totally Not EA/BioWare Destiny, update - 90 Day Roadmap released." xD~~ I have to imagine a single-player game with expansions/DLC would also constitute a long revenue stream? If so, it's possible Bioware wanted to do something different than a big RPG a la Mass Effect/Dragon Age.
  12. Eh, I'll push aside Andromeda since it was basically a different studio entirely since it was a new studio that was originally just a support team and was eventually given a full game to do. And I thought ME3 was great overall, with also one of the best DLCs I've played in Citadel. I've been "scared" to try DA:I based on people's reactions to the game and the overall opinion I read that many games have easily topped it since. It's a pity Andromeda didn't work out. It would have been cool to get a new AAA studio making games, but it's not to be.
  13. On Reset: "I wouldn't say they were shooting for mediocre - I'd say they adopted the "we can fix this after launch" mentality as a way to actually ship the game within this fiscal year, which was dictated by EA."
  14. So here's how it stands: The ones who voted for it are: Every Democrat Lamar Alexander (R-TN) -- Not running for reelection Roy Blunt (R-MO) -- Reelected in 2016 Susan Collins (R-ME) -- Facing reelection in 2020, so she voted for the resolution to appear "moderate" since she knew it would fail and she wasn't a deciding vote Mike Lee (R-UT) -- Reelected in 2016 Jerry Moran (R-KS) -- Markot's alter-ego. Reelected in 2016 Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) -- Reelected in 2016 Rand Paul (R-KY) -- Reelected in 2016 Rob Portman (R-OH) -- Reelected in 2016 Mitt Romney (R-UT) -- Elected in 2018 Marco Rubio (R-FL) -- Reelected in 2016 Patrick Toomey (R-PA) -- Reelected in 2016 Roger Wicker (R-MS) -- Reelected in 2016 Only one facing reelection next year voted for it. It looks like not having an election within the next year was actually a bigger motivator for voting for the resolution than having to face reelection, probably because of the primaries.
  15. I'm not 'ing you; I'm 'ing the fact that someone would spend more time with their spouse and family than D1P like wtf Not cool @GROCERIES
