  1. I think the labels are a good solution for the problem of dead boards that we used to have. And it'll be very useful once the boards start really filling up again. In a couple of the posted pics I can kind of see why the secondary tags seem like a bit much, but on the mobile browser that I am using they look fine imho.
  2. The real victim in this that no one is talking about is Toronto. With LeBron heading West, who will be their daddy now?
  3. The Republican party is starting to give the distinct impression that they see interaction with Russians as pandering to constituents.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if state bans on conversion therapy are on the chopping block with Kennedy gone.
  5. Did the article state specifically that Obama and Putin were literally, physically alone in the room? My understanding is that up until Trump shorthand for "one on one" would mean at least translators and maybe an aide.
  6. It's unusual and a bad idea. With no official record or corroboration when Russia comes out after this meeting and says Trump promised this, this, and this it will leave the world wondering who to believe. This has happened over and over with this administration and Russia. Jared did these type of 1 on 1 private meetings with Middle Easterners that are now leading to a ton of speculation about financial dealings and possible crimes. Best case scenario it plays into Putin's plans to play Trump. Worst case there really is collusion going on and Trump wants to talk about it. Either way, a total 1 on 1 is a bad idea.
  7. In a perfect foreshadowing of his work at EPA he long ago eliminated the regulation of shame from his emotional agency.
  8. I was fairly ashamed of this country during the Bush years, and I didn't even pay much attention to politics then. During the Obama years I would say less ashamed would be the general feeling with brief moments of actual pride. Under Trump it's a continuous, years long slog of constantly feeling the national equivalent of shitting your pants for all the world to see. And then.....there are the bad days.....
  9. I like how he adds the neighbor incident in there even though, by all accounts, that was strictly a matter of his being an insufferable twat of a neighbor.
  10. Rondo going to Lakers. 1 year, 9 million. The Lakers moves so far kind of remind me of the Cavs at the deadline. They're moving their feet a lot to convince LeBron they're working hard, but I am not sure how much their efforts to sign McGee, Lance, and Rondo really help them. With George out of the running is there any other big signings for the Lakers to make other than Leonard? Hopefully this doesn't hurt them. For a team who is generally better when they go small that means a pretty damn big starting frontcourt with Cousins, Durant, and Green. Which likely now makes them bigger than most teams at C and SF. Granted, McGee was pretty big, but he was also athletic, quicker in transition, and not worried about getting the ball. Maybe most importantly though, McGee proved he was alright with being benched for long stretches and would still come out and play his role whenever he was called. Cousins has had attitude problems in the past, and coming off the bench is something that all star level guys even without the history of someone like Cousins have problems with.
  11. That is not at all what I was saying. I wasn't really speaking at all to the chances of Barrett defecting on Roe. I am a pessimist who lives in a Red state surrounded by women who despise Roe. My point was that, to the horribly efficient judicial machinery in place on the Right, even a small chance of unpredictability is too much. Keep in mind, they probably don't just have their sights set on Roe, they're looking forward to post-Roe and perhaps a national law outlawing abortion. Perhaps no exceptions for rape or incest. These are the kind of things where I think they might get worried a woman might get squeamish about. And, like I said, I am not so sure I buy it. But this is the discussion conservatives are having amongst themselves. A lot of them just don't trust a woman on this issue, full stop. Not when, all things being equal, you could nominate a man instead.
  12. It will show a lot of concern, and a surprising amount of guile, by Trump if she is actually the pick. It would signal Trump and his allies are genuinely concerned with the optics of killing Roe. My understanding is that no matter how conservative they are, a female justice is seen in conservative circles inherently as a danger to "Go Souter" on Roe. That all said, I think it's a typical pump fake and he'll go with someone else. I find myself over thinking, "If I were faced with the complicated balancing act of pleasing my base, nominating a justice, and finally actually killing Roe and redefining the rights of women for the next 50 years it would make sense to throw down a little cover to say the swing vote on that curtailing was, herself, a woman that I nominated". But then I have to remind myself, Trump doesn't care!
  13. Also, sandwiched in between the story of Trump running child internment camps and appointing a justice to eliminate gay rights and the right to choose the biggest thing we had to worry about some random restaurant not being nice enough to a press secretary that personally insults reporters pretty much every day. Sadly, most news outlets seemed to have their eye on the ball on Trump up until a month or two ago. We really do appear to be sinking back into the swamp of false equivalency, chase the shiny object journalism that for sure led to his nomination and probably helped him win, too.
  14. There was talk of the Warriors going after Ariza, which would have been good for their depth. All things considered, unless George has a hard-on for playing in Oklahoma, or having a really good view of Westbrook running around with the ball, he should have just stayed in Indy.
  15. I am trying to figure out the nicknames we can give Senators for selling out Roe. I get a feeling Collins might be more susceptible to shame on this one, but Coathanger Connelly sounds better alliteratively. Back Alley Murkowski is also a possibility, but I think we can do better.
  16. It's a shame that this story hasn't gotten more traction, because it would be fun to hear Fox News try to convince their viewers that it's a real threat that this kid might hold someone up with a lawnmower. Can't you just see Tucker Carlson explaing the logistics of raising the mower onto its back wheels and pointing it menacingly at soneone.
  17. Dana Loesch's idea of a fair, engaging critique of her opponent is to film someone on a firing range shooting an inanimate object that represents that person.
  18. In the eventuality that the Dems fail to take either chamber of Congress this year, Trump shuts down the Mueller probe, and Ruth Bader Ginsberg "retires" and makes Samuel fucking Alito the new swing vote on the court might I interest you in joining a murder/suicide pact?
  19. Doesn't having troops and bases in Germany help us when we decide to go to war with some country in the Middle East? I remember hearing story after story about how injured troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were flown to Germany for treatment.
  20. It sounds like a straw man attack, but with him floating a pardon for Blagoavitch it genuinely seems like the one thing that breaks through party lines for Trump is rank corruption. If you are proudly, loudly, and blatantly corrupt....Donny can work with ya.
  21. Aren't they strangled by some import or export mark ups from the U.S. government that Trump was nice enough to wave for about two weeks after the hurricane? I don't know how their economy as a whole is doing, but it seems like getting rid of that would help them a lot.
