  1. That's all frustration about his own political impotence. He looks at a loudmouth, conspiracy flinging, deplorable human being like Jones and he sees mini-Trump. So he says to Alex Jones what he wishes he could say to Donald Trump.
  2. Notice how the White House and Trump allies have learned that it's generally a bad idea to deny any specifics. They just deny in broad strokes to avoid the inevitable fast cuts that place denial and proof of lying immediately after.
  3. Here's the thing. Bob Woodward should be more trustworthy than these two. But in their own ways I think Omarosa and Wolff were both pretty credible. Omarosa had tapes, and many of Wolff's juicy tales were just giving dirty details on things that had been previously reported. I think that Woodward's book actually lends creedence to these other two. They aren't just hacks writing a hatchet job. The reason a Bob Woodward book reads like a trashy tabloid article at times is simply because that's how the White House is being run. Much like how all of us around here have struggled with what hyperbole and satire even mean anymore, one suspects that Wolff and Omarosa didn't have to make stuff up because they're not creative enough to top reality at this point.
  4. I'll tell you the same thing my parents told me when I asked them why they always have to fight on Christmas. It's your fault for being such a worthless piece of shit.
  5. These revelations about what Trump knew and when he knew it are just going to keep getting worse. Here soon we'll be seeing GOP senators giving interviews like.... Tapper: Senator Grahmn, Donald Trump is literally straddling the side of your head and humping your ear. Are you telling the American people you honestly have no problem with that? Grahmn: All I can say is that I know what's in his heart, and Donald Trump is a good man.
  6. Classic victim blaming. Ted Cruz started the meme when he killed those poor people.
  7. I am not going to say that every time Trump goes out of his way to deny a media report it signals that media report was actually dead on. But just from verifiable cases, it's gotta be at least in the high 80's.
  8. When liberals are scolded for being hyperbolic about Trump and historical comparisons, it's really nice for Trump to really sell the Nixon 2.0 persona by attacking John Dean, Bernstein, and calling people rats. Now he just needs to do the double peace sign when he resigns.
  9. Ha. Just have it be like Howard's mother. Her part in the series is just shouting stuff from her room and never on camera. And have her voiced by Rosey O'Donnell which would be perfect because..... 1. Judging from Rosey's voice, she could probably do a fairly good impression. 2. It would drive Trump and his followers nuts to replace Roseanne Barr with Rosey O'Donnell. 3. Here name is even Rosey!
  10. I think that's right. And in a lot of ways, it is the story of the Trump presidency. This presidency has been a master class of propaganda. I have lost count of the number of times Trump has done the unthinkable, only for Fox News and right wing outlets to normalize it in a news cycle or two.
  11. I guess as a Doctor Who alum he found it so much fun to be submerged in toxic fandom whining about how women are allowed to be in film that he decided to hop on to the one franchise whose fans whine even louder about it than Who fans.
  12. That thought crossed my mind while I was posting. My thought was that either Trump might fire him too. Or that Wrey, while apparently a non-partisan actor trying to steer the FBI through difficult times will just acquiesce when Trump puts more pressure on him and Republicans make it clear they're not going to do anything about it. I think the second is more likely. Wrey has seen how effectively they have smeared Comey. If Trump forces the issue, he has to know that's what's in store for him as well if he fights back. The only defense here is for Dems to take the House(the Senate would be nice too, but that seems like a longshot). Like in other things(judge nominations) the GOP seems to be finally giving into their ""power is all that matters" impulse when it comes to norms that keep things like Justice and the FBI non-partian. The only way to stop them is with Dems controlling at least one center of power. The real disturbing thought here to me is what happens if the Dems don't even take the House in November. As I said in the other thread, I think these drastic actions to take over Justice and the FBI by the GOP have been spurred by the perception that the Dems will use the House to investigate the hell out of Trump. The Republicans feel the only defense to that is use up the credibility of institutions to investigate every right wing fever dream conspiracy they can come up with about the Democrats to muddy the waters. Sure, Trump did this stuff, but lookit all these Dems the FBI busted running a child sex ring! This all might sound pessimistic, but I think we're in for an ugly fight even if the Dems take the House. If they can't even do that, we find ourselves in a repeat of 2016 where the GOP finds themselves with an embarrassment of riches of power. And we'll all find how just how much our institutions can protect us from Trump and the GOP's slide toward authoritarianism for the sake of power because nothing else will be there to stop them.
  13. Buckle up, boys. Trump is now clearly signaling he is going to instigate a Constitutional crisis to try to save his ass. And Republicans are lining up in his side for the fight. This is like Mcmaster's exit or similar situations. It was so well reported beforehand we knew a couple moves in advance. With recent news, we now know with near certainty that McGahn will leave, Manafort will be pardoned, and Sessions will be fired. Likely other previously unthinkable actions will accompany these three things as Trump consolidates Justice and the FBI into his own personally loyal arm to attack his political opponents with. It should be mentioned that if Trump's previous public statements about Manafort being a good man for not breaking are seen as playing footsie with a bribe or witness tampering or whatever you want to call Trump dangling a pardon for silence then McGahn's departure is nothing short of an outright declaration. Manafort is about to go on trial for a second time, and Trump just all but told him flat out, "I will pardon you if you keep your mouth shut."
  14. I wonder if Grahmn and Grassley's recent statements about cutting Sessions loose were something of a "compromise" between Trump and Republicans. Inside reports all confirm that as bad as he is in public, he's even worse in public. My guess is that Trump wants to fire Sessions, McGahn, and pardon Manafort, like, yesterday. Those near conspiratorial statements from Grahmn and Grassley may have been their way of saying, "Fine, we'll let you do all this stuff, but you have to wait until after the election." I wonder if Grassley's reaction is feeling that Trump broke their deal by starting the least controversial of the three actions before the election.
  15. You might think the internet has everything these days. But it turns out I couldn't find a gif of Arabic numerals dancing around to the Call to Prayer to reply to your post with.
  16. Well that is surprisingly honest of them! Oh, leaving in the fall. I thought you said leaving to take the fall....
  17. I have been doing some thinking on what the long term play here is and I think maybe it's not so much about kneecapping Mueller. Because waiting until after the midterms makes such a thing pretty pointless. Unless the Dems tank things and can't even take the House(in which case, Mueller is only one of a dozen Oh Shit priorities to worry about) then what you gain by removing Sessions is not removing Mueller....it's controlling Justice with a sycophant. That list the GOP has been circulating shows they know what is in store from a Dem House. What I think they are aiming to do is harness the entire Executive Branch to play out a full scale version of Trump's '16 strategy. Make everyone dirty, so the dirtiest guy in the room won't look so bad. They want someone at Justice who will start investigating all of Trump and the GOP's political enemies so they can throw their dirt when the Dem House starts actual oversight on Trump. Basically, Trump is going to make a genuine power play to enlist Justice and the FBI in helping to destroy his political enemies. Grahmn and Grassley have already tipped their hand here. They have both given strong approval to the, "The real scandal is the investigation!" claim.
  18. I can only imagine the mixed feelings that Lindsey Grahmn must have about John McCain dying. On one hand it must be devastating to lose a friend and mentor. On the other, it must be a relief to know that McCain no longer has to watch him debase himself for Trump the likes we have rarely seen outside of Lil Marco and Lyin Ted.
