  1. Removed London bike lane blocked by parked cars most of the time – study | London | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Analysis shows average car journey times have also increased after Kensington and Chelsea council took out lane
  2. Employees at suburban Milwaukee clinic unknowingly gave out 57 shots with deliberately ruined vaccine; pharmacist arrested WWW.CHICAGOTRIBUNE.COM Authorities arrested a suburban Milwaukee pharmacist Thursday suspected of deliberately ruining hundreds of doses of vaccine.
  3. The USCMA actually protects section 230, so even if they got rid of it, Canada and Mexico could sue to restore it. I mean, the US could always ignore USCMA...but that opens an entirely different can of worms.
  4. Ontario's Minister of Finance has resigned after getting caught on a sunny foreign vacation (St. Barts) while the province was under lockdown: It should be noted that Doug Ford's communications person also left the province to go home for Christmas (when gatherings were banned in both Ontario and then place she went to). The Ford government is horrible.
  5. While I certainly applaud wanting to fill those vacancies...do we really believe that McConnell will allow Biden to appoint a single judge anywhere in the country?
  6. I've only read Mistborn trilogy, the first three Stormlight, and now Warbreaker (Stormlight 4 is next). I like them though! I haven't read The Doors of Stone (book 2 of Kingkiller Chronicles by Rothfuss), unfortunately, I am afraid of the drop in quality. His editor commented this past spring that he hasn't seen a single chapter from Rothfuss in something like 2-3 years, and believes he's stopped writing altogether. Will be interesting to see what kind of contract he's bound to. It's been 9 years and there's nothing to show for it.
  7. Hmm. Have you read Warbreaker, by Sanderson? Interesting magic system with an even more interesting religious system. Also ties into Stormlight, especially book 4. Also, I would really recommend The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss. Yes, he is never going to finish the series...but the writing is that good. The best-written fantasy ever, imo.
  8. Ticketmaster To Pay $10 million After Illegally Hacking Rival's Computer System GIZMODO.COM Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, have agreed to pay out $10 million dollars to a competitor after admitting to hiring a former employee to hack into the rival company’s computer network. Just an evil company.
  9. Stormlight will be two series of five books each, I think, separated by a large difference of time. What kind of fantasy do you like? Stormlight is high fantasy, and is some of the best. The first book's (Way of Kings) climax is just amazing. If you like something a bit more grounded, I'd highly recommend The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie: The Blade Itself Before They Are Hanged Last Argument of Kings It has magic, but soft magic, and is "grimdark" fantasy. Lots of dirt, sweat, and grit. It's really good, and overturned so many fantasy tropes that it spawned a new genre, really.
  10. It was only a matter of time: State’s 1st case of new, more contagious variant of the coronavirus detected in SoCal KTLA.COM A new, more contagious strain of the coronavirus reported in the United Kingdom and Colorado has been detected in Southern California, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday. Newsom made the announcement…
  11. 'Toxic Individualism': Pandemic Politics Driving Health Care Workers From Small Towns WWW.NPR.ORG A wave of departing medical professionals in rural areas threatens to leave gaping holes in these health care systems and local economies, triggering a death spiral that may be hard to stop. Crazy how partisanship is literally driving essential healthcare workers out of rural communities. In 5 years: "Well just because I thought they were part of the deep state to spread the Gates microchips, that didn't mean my husband had to die of his diabeetus when they closed down the three clinics nearby!"
  12. WHY THE FUCK WOULDN"T THEY ARRANGE APPOINTMENTS!?! Or, do what Israel is doing, and allow drive-thru vaccinations instead to minimize risk. In the end I think that both the US and Canada are going to have more than enough doses to vaccinate the entire population by mid-summer...and both countries aren't going to be even close to being done, because the states/provinces are handling it instead of the federal governments.
  13. The Pfizer vaccine can also be stored in regular medical freezers for a day or two if needed (or dry ice). Realistically it can also be stored there indefinitely (like the Moderna vaccine since both are similar), but Pfizer only did the trials with the extra-cold storage, so that is what they recommend.
  14. You need 2/3 votes to overrule the President, but you need 100% of the votes to overrule the Senate leader...including the Senate leader's own vote. Great system.
  15. Behind the scenes there are probably 10-30 GOP Senators that are in favour of massive stimulus and direct payments to people...but it's about party control, and owning the Dems.
  16. Basically we need to have pharmacies giving these out, not just centralized vaccination centres.
  17. Yes there are enough vaccines. Ontario confirmed that they have received over 90,000 doses, but only 13,000 have been administered. They've had the doses for about two weeks, sitting in freezers.
  18. Kentucky Hurting While Awaiting Federal Pandemic Aid - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM Urban and rural fortunes diverge in the state, with the pandemic compounding troubles that predated it.
