  2. Yeah, not great. Even in Canada (which is not up to the standard of Northern Europe), we have a combined 52 to 69 week extended paid leave for both parents (can be used by one or the other).

I mean, it's not horrible (in the sense that the US considers its current infection rate pretty good), but it's horrible by the standard Canada is trying to hold itself to without comparison to the US. Also obviously better to hit a higher infection rate when most people 60+ have been vaccinated, rather than last year.
