  1. Come and claim your prize if you voted "zero" for number of days it took for the college football season to be a trainwreck
  2. Most people who vote for him are never going to see that tweet. They'll be a few stories about it today that people may or may not see if they're playing attention to the news, and after that it'll just get added to the soup of commentary that's like, "Mr. Trump's often abrasive tweets are part of his unorthodox communication style that has turned some critics off..."
  3. The Woodward book comes out September 15th. I wonder if newspapers are starting to get some blurbs of what's in the book and a reporter asked him for comment on something before they run with it.
  4. Notably, we're getting extremely close to Sweden, the country that was deliberately trying to do herd immunity before realizing that they'd fucked up.
  5. I think maybe the most encouraging thing I've heard is that a lot of the state polls that were off by maybe 3 or 4 points in the tipping point states in 2016 weren't weighing for education in their results and have started doing that in 2020. So, assuming that they've done it accurately, if the same poll is showing +3 or +4 for Biden this year it might be spot on this time. Of course, then there's the most nightmare inducing thing, which is that none of the polls or data models are accounting for any kind of voter suppression, mail-in ballot rejections, etc.
  6. Why does that start with "No," like he's responding to somebody else? Is he just talking to the voices in his head now?
  7. He always sounds bad in these speeches where he has to behave and stick to the prompter, but he sounds especially awful tonight. Low energy! Sad!
  8. Live stream: Some others on here: https://www.severestudios.com/
  9. This is top of my head, so I might be forgetting some, but, Mysterious Affair at Styles - good Murder on the Orient Express - good Murder of Roger Ackroyd - very good Death on the Nile - good ABC Murders -- pretty good Sad Cypress -- kinda forgettable, don't remember it too well Peril at End House -- pretty good Halloween Party -- not very good, and extremely weird, because it's one of her last ones and it takes place in like the late 60s. Doesn't feel like a Poirot story really
  10. Probably the sort of thing that could be illuminated by the body cam footage, so I guess we'll have to see if it gets released or if all of the cops' cameras were mysteriously broken at the same time, as seems to happen frequently.
  11. Yeah, that's a classic. Anyway, here's some inmates-running-the-asylum shit. We're fucked.
  12. I'm not sure if this is more or less horrifying, but I'm guessing a good chunk of that 57% would vote for a "the official death toll is wrong" option if it existed.
  13. I hope he just picks up immediately where he left off at the end of the previous night "Ladies and gentlemen, the President of the United States." "Ten times! Ten times you have to flush these toilets! We're gonna do something about that folks, believe me."
  14. My theory is that we were shunted into the cursed timeline when the Cubs won the World Series (6 days before Trump's election) and we return to the normal timeline if they win again this year in the weird 60 game pandemic season
  15. I think this really illustrates the frog in the boiling water problem that climate change represents. I think that stat speaks for itself, but the sense I get is that the way this is being covered in the news, especially while it's competing with COVID and the convention, is just kinda like, "Oh yeah, it's fire season again"
