  1. "Do you vibe with this game's vibe?" If yes, soul, if no, soulless. For a remake, update the graphics while sticking as close to the original art style as possible if the original had a purposefully distinct art style. Have the story remain unchanged including the tone in which it's presented and the characterization of the characters(unless the OG sucked, like Ashely then it's ok) Do not change the game's atmosphere. Only remove things I disliked and never remove or change things I liked. Update the gameplay without changing the core of how it functions. Soul is preference lol
  2. As someone who often values the Story over everything else, FF13 was the only FF I quit because of the story. Honestly, don't remember jack about FF13 but it was one of the few games I just gave up on willingly. And as someone who says open world is a meme, the linear levels never bothered me.
  3. Is this statement directed to me specifically or...? Cuz like, I'm a big fan of ff14 and really looking forward to 16 because of 14.
  4. SE has really only blundered with 13-15 and fixed 14 to be one of the best FF of them all (imo). Tho, Square is the one who brought the Ws. SE has been pretty unsuccessful. Still, too early to be shitting on a combat system you haven't played The rest of the trash they put out is irrelevant to me.
  5. I know there are people clamoring for this, but it is annoying that when anyone talks about wanting the "soul" back or some such nonsense this is nearly the only thing that is brought up. Like, the re4 remake being soulless is justified by having that specific aspect removed. I'm not saying there aren't other things in that same category so no need to start listing all the non-PC things that were included back in 2005, but I just wish people would stop acting like that is a fair reason for the remake to be lesser than the original. I'm not saying that's what yer doin' here, and I couldn't care less about the upskirt shot being removed. It is possibly the least interesting removal/change they could have made and people on both sides are caring way too much about something so insignificant. And as a reminder to anyone, I rated the remake a 10/10 or 9/10 depending on mood. Great game. The devs practically succeeded at letting you experience the same game for the first time twice. Maybe soulless is a bit harsh, but it does have less soul than the OG, imo. Oh, and you stated that it is going just as hard to appeal to the fans, but they overall have a much larger and diverse selection of players to appeal to. The more players you have to make a game for the less you are able to appeal to specific portions of your player base. When you have to appeal to everyone, that's when you just buy 5 large cheese pizzas and hope the lack of pepperoni (which also has massive appeal) won't bother people too much. I know people who won't eat a pizza without pepperoni. I'm kinda like that but luckily the RE4 remake is a nice NY-style pizza and with or without pepperoni I'm eating that pizza. Edit: I'm not saying the remake isn't without improvements either. The island is way better overall - miss the lasers tho. Ashley is way better than the previous incarnation. The JK fights are better but I do miss the QTE bit. I feel the bug enemies are more in place in the remake. The RS fight is better. Castle is a mixed bag but I don't miss the turret room. I think the new JJs are better and I like the hog mask enemies.
  6. CBUIII is pretty good about not including that in the main story stuff. Now, that is the kind of stuff you might see in side quest stuff.
  7. Yesterday, a somewhat famous YouTuber gaming critic known as Crowbcat released an RE4 comparison titled "soul vs soulless Resident Evil 4 comparison" with a description telling you to draw your own conclusions despite it being very obvious that Crowbcat is calling the remake soulless and video very much made its priority to show the remake make as soulless. Now, I actually agree it is soulless. But soulless games can be good just like re4 remake was. Since that video came out, the video has obtained almost 700k views and 31k likes and 22k dislikes. Reddit, of course, is making their opinions heard about the video. Now, who's to know if Crowbcat is backtracking or making fun of his haters, but he has since renamed the video to "Resident Evil 4 Remake is a masterpiece" with the description reading "In this video we're looking at how the Resident Evil 4 Remake improved over the original while still keeping the soul." To me, it is obvious he is making fun of his haters, but to others, they fully believe he is doing damage control despite the video's narrative pushing the remake to be seen as soulless.
  8. I really am looking forward to the story tho. Despite having seen every trailer and demo except for the state of play, I actually don't know any of the plot details aside from "muh revenge" and I actually wonder what is the end goal of the story. It is always about saving the day and killing god for the most part, but none of us know how or why we will be saving the day and what kind of god we are going to kill. Will it be the god behind the mortal villain, or will the mortal villain become a god? Edit: The kino route would be to kill god and then have a 1v1 fight with the mortal villain at the edge of the universe
  9. Won't regret it as I already played GoWR and DeS, and like, I still own a PS5 which is very cool. But I will be unhappy with FF16 if it ends with the MC's death no matter how good the story is. Only one game has ever pulled off the MC dying. I lied. There are 3 games that have pulled it off. But only one of them is Japanese and Japan sucks dick at endings.
  10. I refuse to fight anyone in case I lose. I'll just call you stupid and dumb from across the internet
  11. Spicy(lol it's not) Nacho Doritos are the best btw.
  12. A year or so ago I got the flamin' hot white cheddar popcorn because I love me some hot cheese popcorn and everywhere here has stopped selling all brands of hot cheese popcorn except for the smart food brand. I thought, since there was cheese maybe I'd like it but nope. It mostly just tastes like the awful flamin' hot spice. I have tried the flamin' hot cool ranch as well and once again it was just bad. I have of course had the cheetos brand but those are the worst because there ain't even any cheese on flamin' hot cheetos. Today I was watching a thing where the flamin' hot cool ranch doritos were basically ranked as the best dorito and I just thought those people were nuts.
  13. Yes, the flamin' hot spice that is used on frito-lay products. Whatever spice mixture makes up their flamin' hot spice is bad.
  14. I see what you are getting at here, but that's not what I had in my mind. Have you ever seen Advent Children? Like, in the final battle, they are constantly clashing swords but at times there is a break where something special happens. That's kinda what is in my head. That's why I called them mini-cutscenes. All those swords clashing bits are just the auto-battle, and every real hit is a command action or enemy turn. It's almost like a movie where you direct the big moves.
  15. Yes. It is not the action aspect I dislike in FF7R. It's like, more of the feel I guess. I said a bit ago that I'm actually not a fan of swapping characters and I felt incentivized to do so unlike a game like Tales of _____. Like I just feel that it wasn't enough. Like it wasn't enough of an action game nor was it enough of a classic RPG. I suck at explaining it but I just don't prefer what they were trying to do based on the demo alone. I really like KH and I really like Tales of and I feel that FF7R was doing something similar to those which makes sense for FF turning into an arpg, but I didn't like it. I recall specifically not enjoying the boss fight and the mini-boss fight (I think there was one). Might be weird to say, but I think I feel that it was similar to a more actiony Xenoblade and I think Xenoblade has one of the worst combat systems ever in a JRPG.
  16. My opinion hasn't and I certainly don't prefer it over a DMC system and I'm not a fan of DMC-likes. Edit: of course, this is based on my few play-thrus of the demo and not the full game.
