CitizenVectron
Basically someone got access to the accounts of many high-profile blue check mark users, including Elon Musk, Joe Biden, and Bill Gates. They made posts asking people to send bitcoins in exchange for promised 2x payback. Twitter has locked down accounts (basically all famous people have been locked out for much of the day) while they investigate. Some suspect Russia or China, in an effort to get access to DMs and media, with the Bitcoin messages being a ruse. But it appears this was not someone getting passwords, it was direct intrusion into Twitter itself.
CitizenVectron
Apparently photos of Twitter's internal mod tools are being leaked, too. https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/jgxd3d/twitter-insider-access-panel-account-hacks-biden-uber-bezos Trump's account was safe, allegedly, as Twitter removed API access for his after an intern got control a while ago. marioandsonic
That sucks. But on the other hand, Twitter has ruined everything.

johnny
The best part of this was the short time we got to celebrate the blue check marks not being able to tweet.
