Want to get a convenient emulation "box", Raspberry? Modded PS Classic? What do I get?

I should also mention I want to get a pre-loaded system on Ebay or somewhere, what do you guys think and do you have any recommendations per chance? It's a jungle out there and I have no idea about all this Raspberry, modded PS Classics and what not stuff.

I kind of don't want to have to tinker with it but just throw money at it and go essentially. My priorities would be SNES, GBA, Neo Geo, Arcade/MAME, maybe PS1 and possibly even Nintendo DS for the Castlevania titles I haven't played.

Any advice?

Simple and less work, get a ps1 classic or snes classic and hack it. Pretty easy to deal with and you can do up to ps1 on it.

if you’re willing to pay more and get more out of it then a nvidia shield tv.

If you’ll be willing to put in the effort then a raspberry pi 3.

if you’re ready for buggy but bleeding edge tech get into a MISTer.

Am I reading that wrong or do you mean even SNES Classic runs up to PS1?

I've been looking into pre-loaded PS1 Classics on Ebay, yeah, and think I might go with that. Haven't seen any mention of DS games in any of them yet but will keep checking. I'd love to play the DS Castlevanias finally

both retro systems have retro arch ported to them and have enough cpu power to run systems up to the ps1. So yes you can play ps1 games on a snes/nes Classic. Personally i’d go with a ps1 classic since you have open USB ports on it.

Dont get a pre-loaded system off eBay. You’re over paying for work that takes 5 min max and even a child could handle. Just buy a cheap one on sale right now.

I don't know about DS emulation on any of these options.

None are out of the box solutions out there for all these.

Option 1 Do you own a Wii? They are easy enough to hack and runs many different Emulators.

Option 2 SNES mini or PSmini  The PS mini at least uses USB for controller adaptors although I don't know how cracked wide open it has become to the SNES mini. Also you can get like a Bluetooth adaptor to use with them from 8bitdo.

Raspberry Pi This is the most flexible. Also you are doing it yourself. Not too hard and really customizable. You can even buy a nice case for it like a genesis mini or something similar.

There is another rasbery pi type device I hear out there that is more powerful and can do Saturn emulation ok.

Then You have the hardcore FPGA solution called the Mister. It is going on that it is open source and the development community is behind it. No emulator features like save states and tons of video features yet. It is mostly focused about being arcade perfect or console accurate.

@chakoo pointed these out mostly above and I agree with them.

Are there basically rom "bundles" available on the net or do you have to download each game separately. I'm sorry I know these are dumb questions probably but I haven't done any emulating beyond MAME over a decade ago.

I'll probably go with PS1 Classic and just look up how to do it myself if I can easily find roms. Will also check into DS compatibility.

Yes, they're called the Good<Insert System Name here> set. Since I don't want to go down the piracy/roms path you're on your own from here on out on the subject.

Without a touch screen DS is not going to be ideal. There is a port of Drastic for retroarch that can run on the ps1 classic, I personally recommend just using an android phone or tablet if you want to play DS games.
