I saw this story and thought about posting it. I got attacked by a homeless woman a couple of years ago. She didn't hurt me but she did take a swing at me. I found out later that she was walking up and down the street randomly attacking a bunch of people.

Cali? The levels of aggression by homeless people when I lived in CA for a year was crazy coming from NY. I got into three altercations total that I can recall and all three of them were of the kind where you think "this may not end well..." for a second.

Yeah Cali. It's pretty bad out here but I've also heard it's getting pretty bad in NY as well.

We had a transient of some sort at the theater yesterday. I wasn’t there, so my MOD called after the woman hit one of the teens that works for me, and also began disrobing. I kinda went back and forth in my mind on what to do, but eventually settled on calling the non-emergency line to the PD and explaining about 30 times that the woman seemed to be having a mental health crisis and I didn’t bother mentioning that she had struck one of our employees (the girl was totally fine, just freaked out more than anything).

Fortunately the officers who came out were able to get her to calmly leave and then they trespassed her. Nobody was interested in pressing charges or anything. Just a crappy situation because this woman obviously needs help but like….you can’t make her.

Also pretty ridiculous that I had to think about how to avoid the police maybe getting violent with this young Black woman in a mental health crisis because America, but here we are
