Making people think positively about you and poorly of your opponent is good. Is this reaching everyone in the electorate from twitter? No, but at this phase it’s about defining your opponent and fetterman framing oz as an out of touch carpetbagger helps define the message down the line. Tv ads make the biggest difference, and getting news stories about a political stunt (the plane flyover jersey beaches) helps define who oz is in this race. -
He’s boosted and whatever but it seems appropriate to have a thread on our elderly president catching a deadly disease

Yes. But for a Republican even he’s a joke. -
He’s right

Eh, these psychos won by a big enough margin it’s clear this is what the psycho Republican electorate wanted, dem help or not.

This is good. Requiring 20% of senators to object alone is a very good step. At the very least it raises the bar for coordination which makes it much more difficult to actually do a coup. That said laws will do nothing to stop bad faith legal theories (of which there are still a few that I know of!) from overturning election results so we do have to hope that ~half of a given party’s senators aren’t brain damaged so to avoid the courts.

It really helps when your opponent is a joke -
The “easier” path requires constitutional amendments to reduce the power of the senate making it basically useless like the House of Lords in Westminster systems. A lot of people believe that abolishing the senate would require unanimous consent from the states because of one particular clause of the constitution. I personally don’t buy it (all new amendments supersede existing amendments or constitutional language) but it’s a widely held belief.

There's far more similarities in party operation and intra-party politics between the GOP and the Bolsheviks than I'm comfortable with. Their shared intellectual roots might have something to do with it. I forget who said it but 'neocons* are the descendants of disillusioned Bolsheviks' is an argument that I'm buying into more and more. *maga people being themselves disillusioned neocons
