I played up until the title screen and liberated one village after that. Combat is great in the way that you can approach the encounters pretty much the way you want. So far combat doesn't seem as in depth as NIoh or Wo-Long but it's pretty satisfying. I'm digging it but I'm not very far... I may have just unlocked the horse though. First thing I did was change the language to Japanese because the English was kinda painful. Story is intriguing though... gonna be hard to split time between this and DD2. Master the parry... it's going to be useful.

I can understand the frustration with those microtransactions but I don’t necessarily trust most people making a stink about them online. Maybe I’ll feel differently later on, but I trust the designers of the game when they say we purposely left fast travel extremely limited and stuff like that. I don’t think it’s their decision to then offer this BS to purchase, and again until I run in to a situation where I feel actually swindled I am going to assume most of that is manufactured anger looking to get attention.
The reviews we’ve read played the entire game without knowledge of this stuff and they loved the game as is.
The first game had limited fast travel as well and while some people didn't like this aspect it didn't ruin the game at all. The game director really doesn't like it and has said so repeatedly so this is his compromise I guess. As with most of the stink about microtraactions in games, the stink that online trolls raise is largely overblown. However, the way Capcom snuck this into the game after reviews were up without even a mention that they were going to do this is pretty damn shady unless I missed something. Not the best look and I suspect this is something corporate forced on the game and not anything the designers intended. Anywhoo... doesn't affect me so, back to the game.

Cliff B has said numerous times that Resident Evil 4 was one of the influences for Gears of War... here's one place he talks about it.
GDC 07: Cliffy B disassembles Gears, mentions sequel - GameSpot

[UPDATE] Lead designer chronicles a game's evolution from the first-person shooter "Unreal Warfare" to the best-selling third-person Gears of...He also mentions Kill switch as well, but I forgot about that game ( along with everyone else) and it's on NO one's lists for greatest games of all time and wasnt what we were talking about. So yeah, I don't know what the confusion is. RE4 was both a great game for its time and it was influential. Are the controls dated? Yes. So are tank controls. Doesn't negate how great the game was at the time it came out.

Yes the game is pretty smooth on my TV and I'm not even using performance mode. There's some real Game of Thrones intrigue going on here plot wise though... just got to the main town.

Damn this game is good... They improved on everything from the first game and expanded on it. Looks and pays great too. They added so much dialogue that wans't in the first game. My party comp is me, Thief, two fighters (hirelings) and my main pawn, a mage. i originally made her a fighter but changed it when I started the game.

On PC we were able to create our characters this week prior to the game release tonight
Yeah on consoles we were able to as well. Character creator was out for everyone.

Yeah there were no complaints about RE4's controls back in 2005 and it was the first game to implement that kind of precision aiming in a third person shooter unless you count the far less successful Winback. I mean RE4 inspired Gears of War and a bunch of other games. No they haven't aged well, but at the time they were definitely innovative.

I always thought the ranking systems in the RE games were to add replayability and to challenge your self on replays. Never appealed to me but I got it.

This one sounds like they improved on everything from the first one especially Pawn A.I. which was quite good in the first game.

It’s also interesting that IGN didn’t mention VRR on series X if it helped the feel of the game to smooth out those dips.
he does mention it and says it doesn't help because of some tchnical jargon i coulnd't quite make out.

Yeah fuck that... I never thought there was such a thing as being TOO British. I know he's speaking english but I'll be damned if I can make out what he's saying and I can watch Guy Ritchie movies without subtitles. Somebody summerize this shit.

Fallout 4 is when things went south.
Fallout 4 was a tough one... I don't think I ever finished it after 60 hours.

He's been more over on RoR than DS2?
I didn't say he liked it more, just that he was positive on it was well.

Reading the actual article and it's more like "damn I can't believe we got that final quest done considering all of the obstacles." My sentiments echo the article's writer
QuoteAs for the final quest itself, when I played it for the first time I didn't come away with the feeling that it had been a last minute scramble, though there were a few things about it I didn't like.
Starfield is pretty much like the other Bethesda games structurally which leads to its "Safe" feeling that @Paperclyp is talking about, but it's not a bad game and doesn't signify the doom of Bethesda. Just like Fallout and Skyrim, it will always be a game I revisit from time to time.

Samsung OLED 65in. I did absolutely everything in my power to get the XSX to look like my PS5 and no matter what I do the XSX is a bit more washed out. Don't get me wrong, it still looks excellent but PS5 games absolutely pop on this TV.
Interesting... my parent's have a Samsung Oled and I've never really been a fan. Those TV's always seem to have a weird green tint to them for some reason.

Those are two pretty massive red flag deal breakers for me.
That being said, I’m off from work next week 👀
I like Fextralife too, he's been REAL big on Rise of the Ronin so I have no idea which game I'm gonna focus on... I'm obviously buying both this week even though I should wait. Added to the fact that I've started to dive into my second Cyberpunk playthrough and I really SHOULD excercise some self control

So apparently Capcom DID inform reviewers they were going to do this and reviewers just didn't mention it themselves? @JPDunks4 you want to clarify?
