Im about 5hrs in. Its such a charming game. It looks amazing, tons of loot and exploration. Hogswart is absolutely massive. The music, esp when you clear a field page is awesome. Im definitely hooked. 

my only gripe…they give you so much to do right off the bat, its hard to stay focused on the main quest. and im really not wandering off. im just using revelio and uncovering field pages as I  move through hogwarts and hogmeade . it gives you tons of xp. I think maybe ive done 3 small sidequests.

The main quest mission is level 3 and Im already level 14. lol. 

on a side note but speaking of blatant antisemitism… The game Outriders had a NPC named Atta Goldstein. Her journal entry specifically says shes jewish. Shes the only NPC in the entire game where their religion is even mentioned in their journal entries. 

no big deal right?  well her sidequest revolves around her tricking these two refugee lovers into thinking shes helping them. she actually winds up robbing them blind and turns them over to the boss who is a tyrant slaver. the lovers wind up escaping and go in to hiding.

The sidequest starts when you meet Atta and she tells you she was the one robbed by these lovers of her jewelry and asks you to get them back for her. When you finally find the lovers, it turns out the trinkets are all they have left after Atta destroyed their lives and took all their belongings. So Atta tries to use you, the player, to take the last mementos of these people and kill them in the process to cover it up. 

its the most insidious sidequest in the entire game and blatantly antisemitic…and it went completely unnoticed by the gaming media as far as I know.

im LTTP and only up to the Dwarven realm. been so damn preoccupied with life that I havent had time to really sit down and put in a good solid session. I also had a media blackout on this game and basically going in blind….

so far my two takeaways:

1.) So far its fun. Feels like more of the same, which isnt a bad thing and pretty on par for all GoW games. Really enjoyed the 3hrs or so Ive played. 

2.) why are Thor and Odin and couple of 1950 NYC mobsters?? I was half expecting Thor to fly away in a Cadillac pulled by Mjolnir.

This is exactly me. I was conservative in younger years (when I was piss broke, mind you). As I got older and actually started to pay attention, I realized that the "American Dream" was fucking bullshit for a significant portion of the population. Now in my mid 40s, I make 6 figures and have shifted left. Id rather my taxes go to helping those less fortunate than me. 

Aside from that, after what I witnessed on Jan 6th and how the republicans rallied behind Trump even after that day... I can never vote Republican again. The image of the fucking confederate flag being flown thru the halls of our Capitol will haunt me forever. Fuck the GOP.

she really didnt run any campaign. and truth be told, bail reform is very unpopular even amongst moderate dems, at least from my anecdotal evidence. 

Is Hochul going to beat Zeldin? That's what really matter to me. I dont want some Trump dickriding, America-hating traitor as my governor.

Fucking LAMP OF MURMUUR from Los Angeles. THEY ARE FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!! They have a bunch of eps out and they have already sky-rocketed into cult status and the albums go for hundreds on discogs. Luckily Death Prayer Records out of the UK is re-releasing alot of their shit. Below is my favorite album, but I highly recommend checking all of it out (Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism is a hot 2nd for me)..they even have some dungeon snyth in there that rocks. He has another project called Silent Thunder which is also really good. 

Its been a while my fellow metalheads in this thread. There has been a ton of good shit recently, some may have been posted already: 

#1 has been on constant rotation because its fucking INCREDIBLE. Native-American Black Metal from the Adirondacks. I copped the CD when it came out and just grabbed the LE deluxed vinyl. Its sooo good. BLACK BRAID. For fans of Sargeist or that Finnish sound without all the Nazi bullshit

Grave Pilgrim from Oregon. They have an EP and just released another EP. Both are amazing. Just copped the vinyl for the new album. High recommend. 

Kanonenfieber from Germany. WW1 themed BM along the lines of 1914 but more straight up melodic BM than Death metal. Simply amazing stuff and the dudes anti-fascist (at least as far as I know).  I highly recommend checking out his other bands - Leipa and Non Est Deus

Night Of the Vampire from Texas. They only have a short EP out right now, but Im hooked on it. Like Halloween BM.  Cant wait to hear what else they do

Faidra from Sweden- This is a straight up Burzum clone..but you can feel good listening to it without the filth of Varg fucking up the mood

Baphomet - The dead shall inherit. This is some old school NYDM from Buffalo that somehow slipped through the cracks for me all these years. The album is from 1992 and none of their other albums sound like this. I love it from start to finish

Sentient Horror from New Jersey. More old school sounding death metal. This is the new album which is damn good..but I admit I do prefer their first. 

Last but not least, the MIGHTY Pyrexia from my hometown!! The true OGs of Brutal DM with Suffocation and Internal Bleeding (all from my town). They make me proud all three of these bands are still at it. This album fucking rocks.
