Game is super fun but you can just sense inevitable paywall approaching.
-
I definitely enjoyed the story and it was a good looking game, but the glitches and lifeless world with the AI on rails really broke the immersion for me. I put in over 50hrs, so I did explore and do a few sidequests.
as someone who finished it when it was first released, is it worth booting up my save and checking it out? Or just wait for the expansion at this point?
-
This was the biggest gaming disappointment in the last 5+ years, easy.
The game is dead. Shelve it. No one is going back to that absolute train wreck of a game.

Since its launch, the only game Ive been playing was Elden Ring and I finally finished it last night. Time has been limited to say the least.
the good news is that today a massive new and free content drop just hit for Hell Let Loose - so I will be diving back in!
-
And the credits roll! 97hrs. Level 160.
went back and cleaned up the Haligtree. then breezed through the two bosses before the final boss, which gave me a hard time. Took like 10-15 attempts.
im standing on Placidusax being the hardest boss in the game. Im gonna hafta try again before I put the game down.
-
Well I made my way through the first part of the Haligtree (the boss was a joke) and got to the Haligtree proper, which looks like Rivendell.
Confession time!!!I used the shortcut that gets you right to the checkpoint before the boss. You know who!
so I decided, let me see what the fuss is all about. I watch the cutscene and as it ended, she instantly started attacking. I wasnt ready so I instantly died. I respawn in and get myself setup properly and absolutely destroyed her. Quite possibly one of the easier bosses ive tried recently. Rivers of Blood in certain instances like this really feels like cheating.
for instance
SpoilerMong and maliketh were way harder for me
And I absolutely cannot beat
SpoilerPlacidusax
so far….he is by far the hardest boss for me. I must be doing something wrong bc I get him down to around 1/3 and he just seems to one shot me. -
Im giving Rivers of Blood a try and this is basically easy mode. Lol.
I was running moonviel for a long time and Maliketh was giving me such a hard time bc the delay/wind up required on moonviel. By the time I got it off, he moved. Tried RoB and got him on my 2nd try.
I have 50 dex and 43 arcane. Am I better off respecing to higher dex? I also have 55 vigor, 25 endurance and 20 mind.

I just found my way to the lake of rot. This game just went from a 9/10 game to a fucking 1/10. Awful area. Absolutely awful. I hate every minute I’m here more than I’ve hated anything else in this game.
i just beelined through to the other side. Through the door theres a site of grace. I have no intention of ever going back. -

yep. My least favorite part of this game are the “Legacy Dungeons” due to how spaced out the sites of Grace are. It’s what tells me no matter how much I like ER, it won’t translate to me liking other Souls games.
anyways, lvl 134 with 138 hours. Decided to swap out a spirit ash. Tried the mimic tear, and omg, this is game changing. So broken and I love it!!
damn. Im not sure how I got so over-leveled so fast. I have 90hrs and im like level 142. I havent really farmed anything either. I did the dragon and night calvary in calied and thats it. Never did the bird farm until I actually got to that area from the portal in consecrated snowfield. Even then I only did the farm for 1 full level since I need like 125k+ runes now to level.
It is crazy how many runes they throw at you late game. Mohg, Lord of Blood dropped 420K runes! Lol. That was 3 full level-ups and then a 4th using what was leftover and the crazy amount of hero/lord/golden 13 runes i had in my inventory.
im in
SpoilerCrumbling farum azula
about 1/2 way through. I guess Im getting close to the end now. I still have the Haligtree left and then I think the boss rush and thats it. -
good news. I think they have a winning formula that allows the casuals to have an enjoyable experience and also maintains the difficulty for the die-hards.

Game is a 7. Nothing more. The more layers you peel back the more flaws you see.
theres definitely a lot of flaws, but its the only game ive been playing with my limited time these days. Im 86hrs in and not bored of it yet, which is a testament to its staying power. Most open world games, by 20-25hrs, I check out. This is a solid 9 for me.
my biggest issues are:
1.) most boss battles come down to the same tactics. Theres not a lot of diversity in how you approach a fight. A few of them were unique - Radahn, Rykard as of now.
2.) the platforming in this game is a joke with the controls. They arent made for it and its obvious.
3.) this game gets compared to BOTW a lot and its definitely the closest open world game to it. However, in BOTW you feel more connected to the world. Theres more interaction with the environment with the climbing, using it in fights, etc. In ER you kinda just exist inside of the world.
4.) lack of a quest log. this is self-explanatory and I think everyone agrees. I dont need a pin on the map telling me where to go, just a journal or something of the NPCs ive met and the conversation I had with them.

Fire Giant down!!
now…what to do next
SpoilerI grabbed the site of grace after the fire giant, but didnt move on to the next area yet. Since I cleared Castle Sol (I basically cleared all of mountaintop east as far as I can tell), I got the other half of the halgtree medallion and opened up the consecrated snowfield.
so… do I continue past the Fire Giant, or do I venture out into the consecrated snowfield?Oh yeah, I found Rivers of Blood, so I can scratch that off the to-do list.

though maybe manually add up all the play time on each character and see if it matches. It probably does. But I know, at least on Xbox, if you don’t close a game completely the “play time” will keep increasing while the game is in standby. Which is very annoying as I then have no real idea how much my actual play time is vs how much of that is me going to sleep/work.
if u go to menu ->system (I think) and then exit, it will show your actual game time.
im at 83hrs. Level 120. Im on the mountaintop
SpoilerJust crossed the rocky bridge with the giant firing arrows at you. And I did the giants mountaintop catacomb
and im considering just following the sites of grace to the next zone. There are two things I want to do in this area though: Finish Latennas quest and get the Rivers of Blood weapon.
is there anything here I absolutely should do? I dont want to get locked out of content if I push through.

Black Knife Tiche ash needs a nerf! LOL.
I was having trouble with the glinstone dragon
SpoilerAt the end of Rannis quest
Tried like 5 times and couldnt kill it. so i left and explored. Got the summons. Heard it was good. Went and leveled it to +10 and went back.
the Fing summons took 1/3 health off the dragon before it was fully spawned. Wound up killing it no problem first try with BKT.

Yeah I don't see how you could miss him. He's also not very tough at all.
I may have just destoyed him and don’t remember. I feel like I cleaned out that entire area. -

Primary Scaling: Intelligence
Secondary Scaling: Dexterity
Tertiary Scaling: Strength
Once it's +10, it'll have B scaling in both Intelligence and Dexterity. My recommended builds at 150 would be something like:
Optimized Version
Starting Class: Prisoner
42 Vigor - You shouldn't be getting hit with this build
30 Mind - Will allow you to abuse the Moonveil Ash of War
20 Endurance - Enough to allow you to wear decent armor with good poise and still mid-roll (e.g. Scale Armor/Fingerprint)
12 Strength - Just enough to let you wield the katana
40 Dexterity - Initial Softcap
70 Intelligence - Preferrable Scaling Softcap (going above this is a waste of points) w/ Lusat's Staff or Carian Regal Staff. I recommend the latter.
06 Faith - Starting Stat
09 Arcane - Starting Stat
Ash of War Spam Version
42 Vigor
30 Mind
20 Endurance
12 Strength
30 Dexterity
80 Intelligence
Bleed Version
42 Vigor
30 Mind
20 Endurance
12 Strength
30 Dexterity
62 Intelligence
27 Arcane
Talisman 1: Alexander's Jar Shard - Improves Ash of War Damage
Talisman 2: Lord of Blood's Exultation - Improves Damage when Bleed is Proc'd
Talisman 3: Magic Scorpion Charm - Improves Magic Damage
Talisman 4: Radagon's Soreseal - +5 levels to all physical stats at the cost of 15% increase damage (negligible at 150)
Great Rune: Godricks Great Rune - +5 to levels to all stats
Im only 107 rn. And the only talisman you mentioned that I have is the radagon sorseal.
also - i just found Wings of Astel. Ive heard good things about this sword and I think I can take it to +10 right away.
so….wings or moon?
-
Question on my +9 moonviel katana. Im currently at 60 INT. Im not sure what the cap is, but i stopped leveling at 60.
the katana scales with dex also, but I only have 20 points in dex right now. If i start adding points to dex will the damage increase? Or does it chose the higher of the 2 attributes?

Ranni’s quest complete. These sidequests are absolute bonkers.
-
Im playing this game slow, but thoroughly enjoying it. I think im about 72-75hrs in.
I think im lvl 105 and I got my astrologer to 60 INT and running the moonviel katana at +9. Have my mimic tear at +7. Also using the meteorite staff in my left hand for range. I feel really beastly. I like to agro stuff with lorettas greatbow and then just destroy them with transient moonlight.
Ive cleared out almost everything in Limgrave, Lake, Plateau. Killed Radahn and did the stuff after that.
im now in the Capital and I think Ive done a whole bunch here but def not all of it.
SpoilerKilled Godfrey, The First Elden Lord
I know theres some underground stuff here but havent found the entrance. Im going to continue to explore before I move on. -

I got a lightning spear from a night-only boss outside of the royal capital. Got that shit to +8 and used it on anything that wasn't an ogre or Lobster. Fucking lobsters. I hate them so much. I'm not one to call shit aids or cancer. But I was going through it while talking to my brother and I said, "This place is literally aids-cancer. I hate it."
I just met the lobstrosities in the swamps of lurnia. What dicks.
but I couldnt help myself from saying “did a chick, did a chum” while fighting them. My kids think im retarded.
