  1. I figured UAVs were really it, a cheap practically invisible drone flown mostly by a computer and someone who doesn't need full pilot training dropping missiles on people.
  2. I don't know, people really like their echo chambers. Old coworkers who were anti-maskers defriended me and others on Facebook because I fairly gently pointed out they're passing misinformation.
  3. The Republicans will do thoughts and prayers and talk about mental health counseling. They won't pay for it, that's socialism, they might link to the donation page for NAMI on twitter though. The Democrats will talk a big game for 5 minutes, someone will introduce a bill that's all set to quietly die in a couple weeks and then the cycle ends until the next one.
  4. Why is anyone still interviewing him? He was a radiologist elevated because he was the only MD the Trump team could find to justify doing nothing. He wanted to take the Zapp Brannigan to fighting a pandemic.
  5. Do we even need to approve it? It seems with the 3 we have that we're more than covered as far as vaccines go. I know he's an ophthalmologist or whatever, but I assume they covered infectious diseases at some point when he went to medical school.
  6. Tucker also hasn't let anyone argue live who could get the better of him since. I like to think he's smart enough to not try and run for President, that he's printing money and doing well in the right wing pundit world.
  7. Hopefully it's just performative? Maybe suspend it for a few days to "investigate" and give it the all clear.
  8. What I really want is a bed that has to be anchored down with cables 3 or 4 feet out from each corner.
  9. They could have just printed make America great again on blue hats and said fuck it.
  10. Yeah... I walked into the building, handed the laptop and whatnot in a bag to the front desk guard, he told me I have to stick around so IT can verify, I told him I'm not doing that and walked back out.
  11. I don't know if telling people in the morning they might not have a job that afternoon is that good. Because everyone is just sitting there waiting to see if they're up, even if most of the company is fine. Anthem did quarterly rolling layoffs when I was there. HR and security would walk a department into a large conference room and then out of the building. Their cubicle items would be boxed up and sent to their homes. When I got cut loose there I was working from home so mine was a phone call at 4pm and them telling me to bring my laptop into the office in town. Funny thing is my current company scheduled a last minute 4pm huddle with me a couple weeks ago with me, the manager and my director, was wondering if history was repeating itself. But it was them giving me a "please don't quit like the 3 other people on the team did this past month" bonus and raise.
  12. In May of last year my company sent out an email one Thursday morning announcing a large layoff and said if you don't hear anything by afternoon you're good. I didn't do anything that morning and at like noon an email went out that said if you haven't been notified then you're good. I'm betting no one was working that morning. There's no nice way to lay people off, but I'm convinced HR orgs figure out the shittiest way possible and go for that.
  13. What? He's in a wheelchair... Did someone find him a brittle assed tree to slug on, push him up to it, chock the wheels with something, and then step back so that he could whack on a tree trunk a little? This guy got sent to Congress?
  14. That would force the Senate to do work, they have a huge amount of rules designed to keep them off the Senate floor.
  15. I've seen a couple people on Facebook repost how awesome it is that cancelling Dr Seuss resulted in Dr Seuss books rocketing to the top selling books on Amazon. When you look it's the books you've heard of and not these Dr Seuss deep cuts with the old timey racism. It doesn't matter though, there's a culture war to fight
  16. Found this little guy on the drive thru at Taco Bell and took it out of circulation. Keep it classy Ohio
  17. He did, but I imagine there are degrees of everything. I had some Five Guys with him yesterday and he commented on how he could taste the ketchup but that the rest of it not so much
  18. Friend of mine who got it still hasn't gotten it all back a month later. He said he could always feel heat though, he had a buffalo chicken bowl and all he tasted was the heat.
  19. So do these massive spikes in rates kick down to people? Like will a bunch of Texan have stupid high bills come next month?
  20. Facebook has less trust than used car lots, good luck going to war with Apple over your right to track people.
