  1. Makes sense. I think an exception should be made for any thread dedicated to NFL football. Making fun of people in football is half of the fun. I think that Tweets are very useful in communicating small updates that aren't conducive to a larger story. For instance, Tweets from journalists with photos/small updates on what was happening on the ground were useful in understanding what was actually happening on the ground for numerous ongoing events this year (Ukraine, Canadian Truck Convoy, etc.) I don't understand how you would enforce this without very active moderation. Makes sense. ========================================= I understand why you might want to do it. I guess I will separate the man from the social media platform in my mind, so my preference would be to not limit what sources can be posted. But in the end, you own the board, you can do whatever you want with it.
  2. I thought @Brickwas intending on getting them for going to work, which would be extended wear. I’m not sure there are any good studies on how to handle masks that have only been worn for 5 minutes. Clearly, if you’re taking on and off a contaminated mask over and over, you risk contaminating your hands if you’re not careful.
  3. When you do get them, remember they can be used for 40-50 hours each. After each use hang them to dry. We have 4-5 each hanging in our laundry room that we rotate through. Lowers your cost dramatically.
  4. My boss is the CFO. If I (or my team) miss a deliverable, I either make him look bad in front of the board or the CEO. I’m a big boy. It was pretty easy to figure out that I would never want that to happen. He doesn’t need to ask me.
  5. The companies I’ve worked at have always been use it or lose it. I disagree - I’ve always found that my bosses care if I make there life easy. If I take vacation, and something gets missed, it’s a problem. That means I have to schedule my vacation around my job.
  6. My BIL works at IBM - and it was pretty clear to him that the unlimited vacation was put in place was in an effort to reduce the amount of vacation used. I work at a startup, and my boss expects me to deliver. I schedule my (limited) vacation around deliverables.
  7. I’ve lived in Michigan and Ontario - and worked in Quebec. I never noticed a difference about how people handle being sick and going/not going to work.

  10. I don't think most Canadians want a Monarch. I don't think most Canadians want to reopen a discussion on changing the Constitution in order to make that happen.

  12. Some estimates have 40% of infections being asymptomatic. Asymptomatic Cases, the Hidden Challenge in Predicting COVID-19 Caseload Increases - PMC WWW.NCBI.NLM.NIH.GOV The numbers of novel coronavirus cases continue to grow at an unprecedented rate across the world. 13. My kids eat cereal dry with their fingers for an afternoon snack, as if they were chips. Otherwise they are cereal first people. I truly think the milk-first poll-responders are just trolling everyone else. No one actually does this.

  15. Pfizer pulled their own approval request in December because a 2-dose regime didn't meet their efficacy requirements -- and showed less effectiveness in the 2-5 year-old age groups. In terms of numbers for current efficacy in children, there was another study released earlier this week. COVID-19 vaccine protects kids and teens from severe illness: Study evaluated Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine effectiveness during the Delta and Omicron periods in children 5-18 years of age -- ScienceDaily WWW.SCIENCEDAILY.COM Results of a new multicenter study found that vaccination with a primary series of the Pfizer-BioNTech mRNA COVID-19 vaccine reduced the risk of COVID-19-associated hospitalizations in children ages 5-11 years by two-thirds during the Omicron period.
  16. Ontario COVID-19 Data Tool | Public Health Ontario WWW.PUBLICHEALTHONTARIO.CA Explore confirmed COVID-19 data in Ontario by: case trends over time including hospitalizations and deaths, age and sex, public health unit, reproduction number, acquisition, outbreaks, laboratory testing and vaccines. Hospital Capacity: Critical Care (Adult and Paediatric**) (oha.com) ICU numbers and hospitalization numbers are reported daily in my Province. For instance, this data tells you that of 2 days ago, that there were 75 children in the ICU -- 3 of them had COVID. The amount of deaths, hospitalizations, etc. by age group are easily accessible by age group (both absolutes and rate of population) for both the last 2 weeks and cumulative for the pandemic. [Note: Hospitalization does not necessarily mean severe disease -- particularly with Omicron -- many admissions are for things not considered "severe" (i.e. a day or less to monitor Oxygen levels, and/or a steroid spray to reduce inflammation in the lungs.]
  17. I don't watch enough TV to justify Netflix -- but my daughter does. I'm always finding something worth watching -- La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) at the moment.
  18. There was no severe disease in the study in either the vaccinated or unvaccinated group.
  19. The protection for kids from 5-11 against hospitalization is only 66%, my understanding is the protection for kids under 5 is even lower (although I haven't been able to find a good number). If it were 90%, it would already have been approved.
  20. The argument from the bioethicist I read was that: 1) The risk to young children is very low 2) The benefits of vaccination are relatively low due to lower efficacy 3) The other risks (i.e. myocarditis in young males) is higher than other age groups 4) There are still high risk groups elsewhere in the world who would benefit more from vaccination I still vaccinated my 6-year old daughter. However, I would still not be overly concerned with rejoining "normalish" life, even if she wasn't. Because her risks are abnormally low.
  21. Pierre Poilievre isn't a white supremacist. The Conservative Party of Canada isn't a white supremacist party. I have never seen anything to suggest that Rupa ignores white supremacy. The trucker convoy was many bad things, but a facist event wasn't one of them.
  22. In the Province of Ontario -- there have been a total of 15 Pediatric Deaths from (or with) Covid between January 2020 and April 20, 2022. In a typical year, there are between there are approximately 1,100 to 1,200 deaths total pediatric deaths.
