  1. To be fair though how many people take the wrong lessons from movies because they hear what they want and don't really pay attention the whole way through?
  2. I think we should be talking about felony revenge porn and how nobody seems to care that right wing media is actively helping to spread it. Frankly I don't care what frenzy the conservatives are whipping up on her, there are ways to handle this short of resignation and it's naive and self defeating to hold ourselves to an impossible standard just because Republicans have none. I refuse to be hoodwinked into forgetting what real morality consists of and like it or not our leaders do get some leeway. Everybody knows this but nobody has the guts to admit it. She has the staffer reassigned and that's it. The real problem is how once again someone has their private information stolen and weaponized against them and nobody cares to inspect where it came from or if it's even proper to discuss. We're all too busy quibbling over the details of what amounts to a minor and fully resolvable consent issue to see that.
  3. Red Hot Chili Peppers, that's MY favorite boy band.
  4. Next thing you know fucking Linkin Park will be a boy band because hey, sex appeal.
  5. It is because calling something a "boy band" strains credulity if you don't tick off certain boxes. We use language to communicate things after all and the term was invented to distinguish between groups like The Monkees vs. The Animals. Why even have a term if it can mean all the things that it was specifically evolved to distinguish between? As was said it takes more than a band with boys, even ones with sex appeal, to be a "boy band." The big difference is that a boy band consists of people who are typically strictly performers; the tendency is toward manager created groups and producer created songs. Both The Beatles and The Beach Boys were organically created and they wrote their own music. They're just "bands."
  6. Uh the first boy band was like, Herman's Hermits or some shit. Neither The Beatles nor The Beach Boys are "boy bands."
  7. The idea that the World Series arena was full of working class brown and black people from the city is just... Uh... Fucking idiotic. So fucking weird how the population of this city is erased until they need to become liberal scapegoats then suddenly they can all afford game five tickets. FOH.
  8. It went on to be the most influential show of all time, and the greatest up until Lindelof eclipsed his own work with The Leftovers These "side notes" pervade Lindelof's work and knowing the details makes his works worth revisiting over and over again, revealing new details. Apparently the plot to Oklahoma provides for some interesting parallels and even raises some questions about Judd (Don Johnson).
  9. Lindelof again proving to be one of the finest tv writers in the business. History will be very kind to his work. What's crazy is we haven't even seen the half of it yet. It's going to absolutely crack open in the next couple episodes. We probably haven't even met all the great characters.
  10. Yes but despite the polling I think Harris even has a better shot. Pete winning Iowa and New Hampshire won't translate to wins in the south but Warren might and Harris definitely would. Pete might be the only candidate who would almost certainly still lose even after winning the first two states.
  11. People do well when they're socialized at a young age, it doesn't matter much what the care worker does as long as the kids come back unharmed. You can't get that by yourself, even if you're fortunate enough to be able to afford having a whole person in your family not working.
  12. In a technical sense the Senate majority can change its own rules governing the powers of the presiding officer but that's something he'll have to do and it will still have to go through while Roberts presides. I don't see Roberts allowing nonsense that will force him to choose anything on obviously partisan grounds, he's built a career out of throwing up a legal bulwark to pretend cases aren't decided on a partisan basis .. I don't see how he would allow it here and I don't see McConnell trying to push him around either.
  13. He won't win unless Biden somehow completely collapses and Warren fails to pick up the pieces. He needs at least two huge failures to have anything close to a real shot.
  14. Again, McConnell won't be leading the Senate during impeachment hearings. All that stuff would have to pass through John Roberts.
