  1. I'm not disagreeing but to be fair, it wasn't just Mitch! It was Republicans like Ron johnson, Cruz, etc who wouldn't sign their blue slips back when Dems had the Senate so that appeals and circuit court judges seats were unfilled until trump took over, a norm that was not given to the democrats when the shoe was on the other foot. These people are playing Calvinball with norms to achieve their ideological goal: an explicitly conservative tribunal of last resort with lifetime appointments so they can make the hard decisions of striking down popular but un-"conservative" positions like environmental regulations and laws(specifically but not exclusively), medicare and social security, the right to choose generally, protection for pre-existing conditions, etc.
  2. ACB: don't expect the court to help you, at all, for anything 100% chance she falls in the conservative line on voting rights and other related issues where you ultimately don't have the chance to hold the other branches accountable
  3. Third option: you prevent states from stopping sales of insurance issued access state lines, so it becomes a race to the bottom for business friendly regulations, kinda like how many credit cards are/were (?) Issued from like south dakota because of their usury laws allowed the issuance of high interest cards on favorable terms for the issuer
  4. Also part of the conservativeness of their models is because they account for the possibility that the polls are wrong. Every modeler says this!
  5. I fucking hate this knowing how our foster care system is. Half of my brothers and sister in law are adopted!
  6. Fwiw, POTUS needs to be abolished and congress strengthened. More of a Westminster system
  7. I don't disagree but the institution can only be as good as the people in charge
  8. The Warren court and a few decent rulings thanks to Kennedy joining the liberals are all the good this court has done. Court liberals are what was good, not the institution! The institution would be "ok" at best if all but maybe 3 justices weren't the result of undemocratic/stolen presidential elections, to say nothing of the Senate being a broken institution itself
  9. Scotus desperately needs a technical court because if you listened to the arguments on google v oracle it's real, real, real bad
  10. Nope, takes an act of congress and signed into law by the president to change the size of the supreme court and complete makeup of the lower courts
  11. Also there are some states that start processing mail in ballots early. Expect them all to be contested based on signatures and other bullshit like that
  12. I think a lot of it will be Biden pulling more out of ruby red states (wv, nd, sd, utah, ks, etc) that he has no chance of winning than clinton and Obama, with better margins in blue states, plus a sizeable lead in almost all swing states and keeping it close if not winning in TX.
  13. I'm extremely bullish. I think whomever is undecided will break hard for Biden and some of Trump's support just isn't there, and the polls are slightly overcorrecting from 4 years ago
