  1. Saying there’s not enough in the John Wick universe to dive into other aspects of it is a wild statement. They’re an absolute master class in world building with little to no exposition. Hell you never even see things like the High Table. Now whether or not what they do outside of the movies is any good? We’ll see. But I wouldn’t bet against it.

Also the correct order is 4 - 1 - 2 - 3. The Warriors homage fight scene is the best.

I said specifically in the last 40 years. :p He was great before that, I agree. Blue Chips is solid but not upper echelon. Crazy he passed away, would have liked to have seen more from him, but 87 is pretty old. At least we'll get to see his final film.

I've been meaning to do a Sorcerer rewatch and with a new transfer having come out the past few years I think it's time.

Ohhhhh touche! I can’t read apparently

I like William Friedkin, he's an interesting director, but he's only made 3 good movies in the last 40 years, namely: To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), Rules of Engagement (2000) and Killer Joe (2011), out of 10 movies he's directed over the past 40 years. 3/10 is not a great average, but I am always curious to see how his next project turns out, like writer/director Paul Schrader.

    Lol wut only 3?

The Exorcist, French Connection and The Boys in the Band are all fantastic. And Blue Chips is solid guilty pleasure in that cheesy 90’s sports drama genre lol.

Was getting the absolute shit kicked out of me by a certain boss last night. Died again and again and again. Figured out some tricks to get its HP to half before the fight began, but that seemed to be an enrage threshold where it got double attacks each turn, which made it even more dangerous. So I inch my way around pre-combat, getting rid of as many hazards and minions as I could without breaking stealth.

Now, prior to this, I'd tried many ways to shortcut my way to victory, from status effects (which got me the closest, burning and poison can do a number over time) to trying to bumrush it with our best attacks while pre-buffed, to attempting to shove it off a cliff, but sadly its weight class was far outside anything any of us were able to actually even budge. And even with its minions, which we could shove, they basically needed to be right at the edge for our strongest member to be able to knock off, so I had to come up with something else. When this boss hit me, any of my team would be lucky to withstand the first attack, and if we didn't, the follow-up would actually outright anyone hit by it, rapidly deteriorating the situation.

I keep banging my head against it over and over, and eventually realize I haven't really checked all my items. I've tried various spells and scrolls, but kind of ignored potions, non-spell poisons, etc. Then I notice I have this weird arrow I picked up several hours earlier. I instantly remember its effect: it knocks back enemies 3ish meters on hit. I begin this fight by yeeting that big bitch right off a cliff and instantly leveling up the entire party, and then jumping down a seemingly bottomless pit to find a new area, which I'm now exploring!

Jesus this story is literally everything I want from this game. My lack of a gaming PC makes me sad. Gonna be a long month of FF XVI side quests while I wait to get my hands on this.

As someone with only passive knowledge of D&D but loves turn based strategy-like combat: what class would you recommend? Is there some type of mage/fighter combo?

Im in the same boat. Usually I lean Paladin for that kind of combo. But I believe the inclusion of Sub Classes opens up more of  those hybrid builds than you’d normally have with classes you wouldn’t expect? I could be talking out of my ass though haha

  6. Lol what a clown. The most obvious answer is usually correct. The beloved star of the show is leaving. He is being replaced by a C Tier actor who has a decent amount of negative press as “not a great guy” stemming from a previous high profile relationship.

That and that alone is the single driving force between the drop in viewership. Being a fair drop off from how fun S1 was coming in a distant second.

I really do like the show, episode 2 was another solid one, but as a fan of the books it's getting increasingly weird the ways in which they can't just leave characters behind and introduce new ones ala the short story chapters of the original trilogy of books. Salvor should be on Terminus with Verisof and Sermak dealing with Anacreon (and Hardin should be 60+ years old now, and where is his main guy Yohan Lee?). Also not sure why it's been 138 years since the founding of First Foundation when the plot for the Verisof/Sermak/Anacreon stuff in the books is only 80 years from the founding of First Foundation. I assume it's to get us much closer to the Hober Mallow stuff from the Merchant Princes chapters (which are 154 years after the founding), but that means we seem to be cutting out the story regarding the trader Limmar Ponyets and Foundation spy/bringer of truth Eskel Gorov which actually takes place 134 years after founding (maybe we'll get a one-off episode covering that). I can see where they are mixing and matching things and using old characters to replace what were new characters in the original book so you can keep the same cast for multiple seasons but I really wanted that adaptation. Season 1 went off book but not horrifically so, where I expected they'd course correct in season 2, but it seems like they're going more off book than before.

Again, the show is good and I'm enjoying it on its own as a show, but the book is so good that to do it this way is a shame. I know they have to put in more action and more personal character development than the book had but why change the bones of the plot, etc.? Ah well. All the made-up Empire stuff (none of which are in the books) is great though. It gets to interesting themes, etc. even if it's not super relevant to Asimov. It at least gives us a window into the decay and stagnation of the Empire, which happens entirely off-screen in the books over time (you just keep hearing over time how Empire is doing worse and worse in the books).

This is the exact post I plan to make once Winter King starts and it becomes very apparent they’re going way away from the already flawless story lol

  8. I haven’t read the books and didn’t really find either confusing. If neither is addressed for the whole rest of the season then I’ll be confused. But it’s episode 2. Doesn’t seem that weird to introduce mysterious names and characters. 🤷🏻‍♂️ The show does consistently stay incredibly interesting when it’s following Trantor and Empire. Everything around the Foundation really fluctuates for me.
