Was anyone else confused by the cop sub plot?  The cop is looking for his missing brother, and the entire time it feels like someone who must have been missing fairly recently.  He obviously thinks that his brother is a recent contestant, yet his brother won the game in 2015.  Where’s the timeline for this?  His brother’s apartment is empty and the rent isn’t paid, he presumably hasn’t been missing for over half a decade, it just doesn’t add up.

    Spoiler

Honestly from the time the brother takes his mask off he seems pretty reluctant about everything. There’s def a vibe that he knows the stuff he’s doing isn’t good. Maybe he’s like the main character. Maybe he was away from the game and for a few years and came back to it some point but wasn’t as strong willed so needed up working for them. I dunno, there’s def enough loose threads they could make a pretty interesting second season.

  2. The payoff of the Uhtrer/Alfred arc is the single best thing in TV ever. I’ll fight people over this.

Also yeah def read them and everything else Cromwell has written. There is no better “battle author” out there. Every book I continue to be amazed at the picture he paints when describing battles and fight sequences.

For the love of god someone adapt Warlord Chronicles!!!!

I believe that's Hellraiser: Inferno? I remember this one being far less shitty than the other faceless sequels and vaguely enjoyable.

Yeah I think I remember it had a kind of a Jacobs Ladder/Lovecraftian thing going on where the detective keeps seeing things no one else does. Pinhead doesn’t show up until the very literal end of the movie I think.

  4. This time of year? Yeah they’re all worth watching. Are they good? Fuck no, but all of them are at least fun.

Oddly enough I really liked the one with the dude who plays the QB in The Program playing the detective. It’s plays out more like a thriller/mystery than the rest. I have no idea why but I always really enjoyed that one.

    The Last Kingdom - 6/10

It's a fun romp. Blood, guts, glory, etc. The cinematography is fucking amazing. Some of the battle scenes are really good, some are chopped to shit. The series actually got better once it became produced by Netflix, which is weird. Accents are all over the place. The time jumps and actor changes (or lack thereof) can be really jarring

I don't know, if you're looking for something pulpy and bloody with swords, it's worth passing the time. There is going to be a fifth and final season coming out probably some time early-ish next year.

This review is 4 points to low and thus must discarded as trash. I’m sorry it’s nothing personnel, just the rules. @Emblazon knows what I’m talking about.

  6. Yeah Ana De Armas steals the show. Looks aside her character in general was fantastic. Loved that naive innocence paired with complete badassery. I needed more of that athletic ass kicking and would 100% watch a movie based solely on that character.

Overall the movie is great. Fantastic send off for Craig’s Bond. Not better than Skyfall IMO. The main short coming being the villain. Remy does a fantastic job you just don’t get enough time with him to really give a shit about his motivations and he isn’t so over the top charismatic that you can’t stop watching him like Bardem.

I also never had an issue with the length. Paced well, never dragged. Loved it.

Yeah I was super excited with Pike as Moraine seems perfect. I'm concerned they had to recast Matt for the second season. I really hope this hits near Game of Throne popularity and we get the entire series

I would love for it to be that popular but I’ll be satisfied if it’s just good and we get the whole series haha. I’ll say I’m more confident in that with it coming from Prime than Amazon. They’re a bit better about letting shows run to the end.

Im a but concerned about the Matt thing as well. However,

    Spoiler

Given the physical changes to Matt as a result of the dagger I think he’s the one character they could get away with it

More thoughts later, but… what on earth was that? What a strange way to end this season.

I thought the multiple “x time later” jumps were def a bit odd. But other than that I didn’t find much odd. I thought it was a fantastic way to set up next season and end this one.

I NEED an explanation for how fast Nate’s hair is greying!

I really really liked this, aside from the literal very end where I thought the monologue was a little too long. Normally I wouldn’t mind but it made me laugh and just took me out of the moment. My only other “complaint” is that the makeup kind of gave away the game right away.

The actress that played Bev was so, so good. She absolutely nails the tone of that specific kind of person. I don’t think I’ve seen her in anything else which I found surprising considering how much she just kills this role.

Haha I’m only one episode but I IMMEDIATELY said to my wife, “that’s really weird that all the older characters are being played by middle aged actors with SNL level makeup on, something must happen to them”. Obviously I haven’t seen the series so that’s just a guess but your post seems to confirm it haha

  10. The movie is 2 hours and 45 min long. 20 min longer than Skyfall and 15 longer than Spectre. Considering it’s a finale that’s not that bad IMO. Also why are some of you spending 4 hours in a theater for a movie less than 3 hours long?

I never understand the pushback on long movies. If it’s paced well and entertaining then who cares. I’ve watched 3 hour movies that flew by and 90 min movies that made me wanna tear my hair out with boredom.

This has been an embarrassing hole in my horror library. No idea why it’s taken me so long to watch it. It’s perfect in every single possible way haha

Ummm I think I liked this. It’s sorta meta, so I guess that kinda excuses some of the really dumb shit the characters do? But you don’t really know it’s that way till later in the movie so the dumb decisions just annoyed me in the moment. The twist at the end is fun and a little unexpected and there’s a stinger that’s really good. Eh, not a masterpiece but a fun horror movie to watch this time of year.
