  1. He was pretty difficult for me at the time. It was a fun fight though that I thoroughly enjoyed. I wasn't spec'd very well though as it was before my Malenia fight.
  2. Im largely axe and board, and had the same reaction. Also hate that you take bleed damage buildup when you 100% block an attack throughout the rest of the game.
  3. I'm like 150+ hours in I think at this point. I played every Souls game starting mid January to the week before this dropped, (finished Sekiro). The fact I still don't really want the game to end after all of that, is a testament to just how well designed and made the game is. Just about every other open world game, I hit a point where I just focus main story to finish the game as quick as possible. Still believe this is the best game I've ever played.
  4. I read that some other weapons prob would make it much easier. I never have used Bloodhounds Sword so not sure just how much better it is. I probably should have tried it. It wasn't nearly as bad with the Mimic, but still felt like a lot of the fight was just luck. You just pray she doesn't use certain abilities and moves.
  5. Malenia down. Maxed out my Mimic Tear, still used my Battle Axe but put Bleed on it with War Cry. Still took like 2 hours worth of tries but finally beat that bitch!
  6. I was trying to avoid any OP builds or "broken" weapons but F that. I need all the cheese for this b****. Gonna farm runes and level whatever I gotta level. Who is high level on Xbox? May try coop even. By far the hardest boss Ive dealt with in any souls game.
  7. It showed me where that Samurai guy was on the map before, went I went to investigate it, he had left a Katana for me to pick up. So it's def very helpful for stuff like that.
  8. I generally agree. It seemed to be showing me NPC's I hadn't previously interacted with, which I'm not sure I'd agree with putting on the map. But they might be characters I saw a long time ago that I forgot about.
  9. So I got an update on Xbox. Seems it shows NPC's on the map now. Or at least a bunch of them. Seems an answer to those whining about no quest log?
  10. Just attempted her. Decided to come back after I either respec to be an actual efficient build, or I level up some more. Not sure what other content I have left though.
  11. Just spent 2 hours on Mohg, damn that was a bitch and by far my longest boss fight. Had 37 Vigor going into it, and felt like I had to be damn near perfect the whole fight. The 2nd phase took me awhile to get used to, and still so many time's the smallest mistake threw the whole attempt. I finally got him though, and damn did that feel good. Still need to spend time in that region though as I mostly sped through it on my horse. That place seems like it's going to be dreadful to navigate with some of those enemy types around.
  12. I was running like 900-1000 HP at 30 Vigor for a lot of these later game areas, and just about every enemy was 2 shotting me, with bosses having like 80% of their move set 1 shotting me. I'm at 35 vigor now at around 1200ish I think and it's helping, I'll prob pump it up to 40. Boss fights were still doable, but you basically need to be damn near perfect on dodges and blocks, and heal immediately after each tick of any damage as you are guaranteed to be die at 2 shots by just about everything.
  13. I saw someone on Twitter say they finished the game at Lvl 163, got 1000/1000 Xbox Achievements, in 66 hours, without using any of those crazy Soul farming areas, and didn't use a Guide until he finished the full game and just used it to get the few things he missed. I'm like 130 hours in I think and Lvl 135. I don't think it's possible to get 163 in 66 hours without some crazy Soul farming areas for a decent amount of time.
  14. Game is still easily a 10/10 for me. I'm playing on Series X and while I've noticed frame drops, especially more so in some late game areas, it hasn't been enough to affect my enjoyment of the game, and I don't think I'd knock a game for simple performance issues unless it's egregious. Bug are a different story, but I've experienced almost no bugs at all in my 130+ hours with the game, which is quite a feat when you compare it to most open world games. Balance and difficulty I've shared my thoughts on. You can make the game as easy or hard as you want, that's on us the players. If you skip most side content and stick with story, the game will always be difficult. If you do all side content and over level, it'll be easier. If you use the best weapons, summons, spells, it'll be easier. It's all choices us as players make, they gave us a sandbox of sorts to dictate our own experience. And I haven't felt any time has been wasted really because everything I've done has been by choice. Am I facing a really tough boss I've died to 30 times for an hour, but I'm too stubborn to move on and go level up more or do other stuff and come back, that's on me. Thus far I've been pretty keen on moving on if I'm stuck at a boss too long and it's obvious I'm not making progress. Most boss fights haven't taken me more than 20 minutes worth of attempts. I must be in the last stretch of the game, and while my build I know is making the game harder than it probably should be, running 30 vigor/30 endurance/45 strength as a pure melee build in the late game areas, I'm loving the challenge of it all, so I haven't used a respec yet. I may need to soon as the spikes toward the end are definitely unforgiving and losing 100k+ runes repeatedly hurts my heart. Not totally sure I'll do a New Game+ when I finish, I bought it on PC too and my try to run a Wretch build on there cause I have a few friends on PC I may want to PvP with later on.
  15. I haven't played in awhile, still waiting for more substantial updates, but have my Steamdeck still slated for Q2 even though I never ever mobile game on my Switch.
  16. I hit a wall last night with a big difficulty spike in the area north of the Capital. I guess my 30 vigor/30 endurance should prob be upgraded now. I managed to kill all the bosses I ran into, and damn were they some fun fights, but getting 1 tapped by so many moves meaning i had to be near perfect was stressful.
  17. They can fail at balance while I still make the game as enjoyable as possible for myself by not being so OP the game feels broken. As long as you are aware you are making the game less fun by decisions you are making, then that's fine. You are the one that complained you aren't enjoying the game as much now because of your build. Well then change your build so it feels fun and challenging again.
  18. There's nothing stopping you from respec'ing and not using all your points. From using less powerful, or less leveled up weapons. It's one of the main reasons I've stayed away from every OP thing that's been brought up. I used the Ice Hoard Stomp thing once, saw out stupid powerful it was in clearing a group of enemies, and immediately unequipped it. Tried Bloodhound sword for one fight, and saw how much more effective it was than my leveled up Axe, and immediately unequipped it. I get my fun from these games in the feeling of progression and figuring out the bosses. If I was to become so crazy OP that fights were a joke, it'd definitely take a lot of fun out of it. Any truly open world game like this allows you to get really over leveled depending on how you tackle content if it does no enemy scaling. I still have been enjoying the game a lot and the challenge is still reasonable and exciting during each encounter, even at Lvl 120ish. I've poured all my points into Magic stats to allow me to use weapons since like Lvl 80ish, so a lot of the actual important stats for me aren't really too crazy.
