  1. Also, who are the politicians "by and large" calling for nationalizing social media? Receipts please. It's mostly the elected officials you're scared of, like Warren and Sanders.
  2. Mine is correct. Your idea of free speech does not exist in America. You literally are for putting a megaphone in front of and enhancing the views of white supremacists, which goes well beyond the simple freedom to be racist. You have very little understanding of the fact that there's no freedom of tweeting. You also have contradictory views. If you don't believe in racism, believing in a system that's helped screw them and poor people in general contradicts itself. People like to point to civil rights leaders and only believe up to "be nice to black people" without realizing civil rights leaders called for legislation that the DSA would love.
  3. It holds considerable weight. Your equivalency is false because claiming twitter is important is irrelevant. You can be fired, you can be deplatformed, but you're free to hold that view that got you there. Just as they're free to tell you to fuck off lol. Like most self proclaimed moderates, you don't understand free speech, nor do you understand that your ideas helped fringe conspiracy theorists and dangerous people gain reaction. Your views are far right anyway, and I highly doubt you're a centrist Democrat unless centrists are conservative Republicans.
  4. You keep using free speech but don't know what it is. You are free to call your boss a cocksucker. Just don't expect to be taken seriously for saying you have first amendment rights and can't be fires. All sites have a terms of service and white supremacy and Nazism (which isn't peaceful by default) typically go against it for obvious reasons. Progressives are correct as usual. Your moderate stances are hilariously all far right and you wonder why progressives think the center in this country is right wing.
  5. They have a right to express them. They don't have a right to be untouched on Twitter, and forcing Twitter to accommodate them is hilarious as a so-called moderate position. A right to speak does not mean a right to be heard. Again it makes sense that a supposed Centrist holds far-right news. Moderates aren't actually moderate. The more amusing thing is that they've been allowed to grow because they've left unchecked. Your way has already failed. The sensible Progressive position, as usual, it's the one that's correct and it's usually one that's adopted or eventually is adopted by moderates you see the light later and claim moral High Ground.
  6. I'm honestly picturing you cussing out your boss and then claiming free speech infringement when he fires you.
  7. My view is correct. Yours is fictional and far right. It's not surprised a moderate thinks conservatism is centrism.
  8. That's because you don't understand what free speech is. No one has a right to amplify white supremacy. No Nazi had a right to twitter. Just as you don't understand that Gabbard was trying to be progressive. Your views are bad. Left views are always adopted later by the courageous centrists.

  10. It's great, much like the movie. But I learned years ago it's futile to discuss it on the interwebs.
  11. That's why streaming/digital sucks sometimes. I'm glad I own the DVDs or that, if I didn't, they're still out there.
  12. You literally didn't know the scene existed, lol. What else did you miss during your critiques of the movie?
  13. Blocking InfoWars doesn't hinder how they can spread their conspiracy theories that allow people to get harassed and allow people to get harassed. Television is also important for politics, but no racist has a right to its own television channel. Saying white supremacists have a right to a megaphone is extremist. That's why what you're saying is not centered at all; it's far-right and music to the ears of the KKK and neo-Nazis. Nobody has a right to use Twitter.
  14. I want to also respond to this since we're talking about centrism versus "both sides" being progressives vs. conservatives. You believe they should be heavily relegated and broken up. You know who's saying that? One of the most progressives candidates running, not the "centrists." What is extreme or centrist is usually a media narrative. Conservatives wanted to go into Iraq. Progressives said that's insane. "Centrists" said, "Okay, we'll vote for the Iraq War with a frown on our face like most Americans are."
  15. They are allowed to express conspiracy theories and white supremacy. A private company is not obligated to say that it's OK on their platform. Don't they have a right to say white supremacy is against Terms of Service? SFLUFAN's not obligated to a let a racist post here. Racists have no right to a megaphone.
  16. Read the edit: I think she should be forgiven. But don't pretend she's a centrist. She both took far-right, not centrist views, on LGBT Americans, and she was not trying to be a centrist leading up to this election; she was gunning for progressives by endorsing a Democratic-Socialist. They should not be obligated, which is the extreme view imo. Trump should be held to the same standard as others; the extreme view is that other people get banned for things he can get away with. Places like InfoWars aren't hindered by individuals blocking them; they're hindered by not allowing them to spread their shit as easily. If "centrists" think that social media companies should be obligated to let white supremacy, neo-Nazis, and people (weirdos who think that nobody really died in Sandy Hook) who harass the parents of dead children to use their platforms, then I'd argue they have a far-right and extreme view of what social media companies should do, while progressives are making the only sensible argument. That's putting aside how centrist Democrats and right-wingers almost always take the progressive position later. The Democratic center is already right-wing as SFLUFAN pointed out. Progressives are arguing that there should be a true progressive option.
