  1. Laughs in two DAYS and working on my laptop next to my wife until she was literally about to push. I was still hourly at the time.
  2. I think you're Iletting your love of the book get in the way to some objective analysis of the show. There's a lot more reference to internal rot and decay and reliance on technology than a single terrorist sequence in this show. Like... Every scene involving Empire or Trantor. Which is definitely the most compelling part of the show. Anyways, pretty good finale. Demrazel... Damn she's cold.
  3. I watched the first episode. It's as I feared. Mostly pretty, somewhat compelling, but the cast... God they are bland. So bland. Really not a fan of the color palette or filter or something that they're using either. Visually it's very gray/Marvel-y with the color tones and blacks. And the music and score are just... Gross? Like, it's like so stereotypical lute, mandolin, and something droning in the background. And it even gets bluegrass-y at times. I like bluegrass, and I know bluegrass and Irish folk music share the same roots. But bluegrass just sounds out of place in a fantasy world full of British and Irish accents. The trollocs looked cool though. Much more badass than I ever envisioned in my head. And that's a damn shame because he was the only one putting any personality into his delivery. I'm going to keep going though. Hoping it does something to make me ignore all that negative stuff.
  4. Regarding all the reviews and write-ups I've gone through over the past month or so in anticipation of this show: You know what's going to make Wheel of Time (or any fantasy show) a true successor to Game of Thrones? When people stop saying 'the next/successor to Game of Thrones' about whatever show it is they're wanting to be that. I get the comparisons now before we've seen it. Surely when the show version of Game of Thrones was starting there were plenty of "Lord of the Rings" comparisons. But once the show came out and did its own thing virtually nobody compared it to that anymore in any meaningful way. But if we get two seasons into this and people are still comparing it to GoT then... this show ain't the next GoT.
  5. Touché. But I was more talking about the blob of indistinguishable Marvel tripe. Like I said in my first post, Scott's comments apply to most comic book movies. Not all.
  6. But they are. That's what I was getting at. They're typically regarded as the worst but they're not that much different than the best.
  7. Scott is saying that these movies have bad scripts in addition to boring visuals and worlds. I think he said something like copy and paste. And he's right. Maybe in 40 years people will talk about the deeper meanings and symbolisms of Thor The Dark World and BvS like people talk about Blade Runner today and all the haters like Scott will be proven wrong. I wouldn't take that bet, though.
  8. It's like starting a thread about the Last Jedi. Also, for the record, I don't know what he's talking about when he says Alien and Blade Runner are super hero movies. But I 100% agree with his take on what super hero cinema amounts to these days.
  9. Ridley Scott Won’t Let Age Or Pandemic Slow A Storytelling Appetite That Brought ‘House of Gucci’ & ‘The Last Duel;’ Napoleon & More ‘Gladiator’ Up Next DEADLINE.COM Read an exclusive Q&A with Ridley Scott about 'House of Gucci,' 'The Last Duel,' his Napoleon epic, 'Gladiator' sequel and more. Really, the interview is about the movie he's making right now but there are some fun quotes that are sure to make many froth at the mouth. I couldn't find the original thread where people were cheering or hating Scorcese for making similar comments or I would've just included this there. I'd certainly agree with that for most of the Marvel or DC offerings from the past ten years.
  10. In March of last year I was making $65k. Employer bumped me to $70k. Another company offered me $95k in March of this year. So I took it. Wasn't even there three months when another employer offered me $115k. So in a little over a year my salary almost doubled for doing the same job (database programmer).
  11. Probably the sleaziest of luxury cars. After Lamborghini of course.
