So many showed their asses by writing shit like, "It is necessary for the principle of free speech that the New York Times print Tom Cotton's military occupation op-ed, and it must be debated at length in the marketplace of ideas" only for NYT to come out and admit, "lol, we didn't even read it before we published it." Incredible.

To state the obvious, if NYT published, say, an "Abolish all Prisons" op-ed in the name of open debate, David Brooks would have an aneurysm.

Assuming the NFL season starts on time, and they do the anthem before the game, which I think they would even in an empty stadium, I would expect to see some players kneeling, without any real pushback from ownership this time.

I think it's actually a sign of progress that Brees's comments today stand out so much from almost anyone else, since we're only a few years after the Kaepernick protests, and at the time Brees's position was obviously basically the official position of the league to the point where Kaepernick was de-facto banned.
