Flint Water Crisis: Prosecutors Drop All Criminal Charges

Quote

Solicitor General Fadwa Hammoud and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy issued a statement Thursday, June 13 saying the eight remaining cases are being dismissed without prejudice -- meaning they could be refiled -- in order to conduct a full and complete investigation, a shocking conclusion to the high-profile criminal prosecutions.

“I was pleased by the news,” Weaver said. “When the Attorney General came, she said she was going to be taking Flint seriously and would be making Flint a priority.”

Weaver said she knows the attorney general’s office has been working on the Flint water cases very hard for some time now.

“We’d rather go slow, be right and get accountability and justice than move quickly,” Weaver said. “That seems to be what was done before and then you find out there’s a lot of missing information, missing documentation. You can’t have that when you’re looking for justice.”d
