This looks to be the rarer case where audiences seem to really like it but critics really didn't like it (I find it's usually the other way around) given it's meager 39% all critics score (5/10) on RottenTomatoes vs. it's 84% all audience score (4.1/5) on RT as well as a 6.7/10 (pretty good) on IMDb after 1,700 votes. Yeah that's what I've heard too, critics just thought the film was lifeless and didn't capitalize enough on how interesting the true story was. Seems audiences were fine though. Seems audiences were fine though. The focus was more on the main characters realization of the horror of war and that the US government has been lying about “Vietnam going well”.
