Commissar SFLUFAN
Getting burned at the stake is just the start in this grimdark, witchy FPS | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Coven has you getting payback on the village that persecuted you. Quote I'm a sucker for a nice main menu gag, especially one where you transition right into a cutscene with no loading (looking at you, Spec Ops: the Line). The demo for the upcoming retro FPS, Coven(opens in new tab), kills it here by having the main menu overlaid on a scene of a crowd of medieval peasants staring at you. Starting a new game sees a priest come forward and light your pyre aflame, condemning you to a gruesome death. The first level then begins with you digging out of your own grave to get revenge. Commissar SFLUFAN
This throwback sci-fi FPS is like the Jedi Knight 4 we never got | PC Gamer WWW.PCGAMER.COM Fortune's Run has taken Jedi Knight's legendary lightsaber combat and sprawling levels to new heights. Quote Early on in the demo of Fortune's Run(opens in new tab), an FPS recently featured in the Realms Deep digital event, I stepped into a sci-fi nightclub that has more personality and world building than every single dive in Night City put together. The demo's single level, Trouble At Club V'heni, starts with a stealthy infiltration of the titular nightclub as a different character from protagonist Mozah. Playing as this unnamed antagonist, you sneak your way through the bar and its environs to the VIP lounge at the back. It then cuts back to Mozah's perspective, schmoozing with V'heni's Mos Eisley Cantina-esque clientele. You can ask the dancers how they're handling the recent political instability, chat up the vaguely left wing revolutionaries the bar's turned to for muscle, and get into a growling match with some Totally-Not-Bossk-From-Empire-Strikes-Back-type thugs. t's an incredible little sci-fi space, with music and ambience that has blown me away in each of my three playthroughs of the demo. After chatting up club owner and former revolutionary associate Z'tar and making your way to the back, you realize your contact's been assassinated (by that other guy from the playable intro no less) and the dope club you were just enjoying comes under attack by forces of resident space fascists, the Federation. skillzdadirecta
This game came up in my youtube feed yesterday I was pretty sure I was aware of ALL of SNK's fighters from this era but I never heard of this one. Seems pretty ahead of its time... any of you guys ever hear of or play this?
ShreddieMercury
Bumping this because there are a ton of these games still being announced/released. I've been trying to play Turbo Overkill, but I'm not really feeling it. It seems really well made, but it's also just the Doom Eternal loop of locking you into combat arenas until you clear them. I'm not seeing much variety or craft in the level designs so far, which is what really sets these games apart in my opinion. Maybe it gets better though, as I'm still early on. DUSK is still in my mind the pinnacle of this genre. It's wild that we've had so many of these but none have really stood up to that game. Has anybody played Immortal Redneck? That passed me by because it's a rogue-like, but I've read some great things about it and wondered if it's worth playing.
