  1. Yeah once the savings from stimmys and UI is run out we may just be close to where we started. That said, the childcare component is complex and makes a big difference. A lot of families are down elder caretakers or parents, and some are staying at home rather than work, and taking the pay cut. You can't really throw money at fixing these issues at least until kids are vaccinated, and even then that might not be enough!
  2. between this, new York, and Illinois potentially making very legal and very good democratic partisan maps, there's a chance we can hold the house. If they're bold they can make it 6-0, cowards.
  3. A girl I went to high school with is a funeral director in Florida and even she is burnt out and considering quitting her job due to this pandemic.
  4. virus goes up, jobs go down, pretty simple math here. Swift approval of vaccine approval for under 12s is the only way to get this under control given how much naturally derived immunity there is in many conservative middle aged morons and people naturally don't want their kids to get sick or send them to places with other sick kids
  5. they don't like the big number but don't actually say what they want to cut and by how much shows you how skin deep their very serious objections are
  6. Manchin in actuality would be the vote to lose but maybe if Collins was actually rather than performatively concerned she would support such a measure in his place
  7. A real, albeit incomplete, solution for this is that the federal government could pick up the tab or represent anyone sued under this Or any similar statute in any state. And because it directly impacts the federal budget it should have zero problem getting through recon federal power and money should actually be used for an affirmative good
  8. It's fucking beautiful and I'm so pissed that I'm not longer working remote. I've already reached out to a former colleague about a fully remote position at his company. Between this and the absolutely useless social distancing mandate (even for vaccinated people instead of a vaccination mandate) making me sit nowhere near my team, I may as well be remote anyway!
  9. I think it's us, Alexandria, and Roanoke in the commonwealth and we're jockeying for money from the state and feds to pay for it or we are looking at orders of magnitude higher bills
