  1. The only GSync HDR monitor on the market is a paltry 27" with a 4ms response time, yet costs $2000. The previously linked Freesync HDR monitor is 28", has a 1ms response time and is only $400... So, with HDR capable GSync modules, while we don't know the exact cost for said module, it's likely more than a $150-200 premium over Freesync HDR monitors.
  2. Same. The only exception is on my BB or PayPal store cards with 0% interest if paid in x amount of months. (Ie: I want it “now” but can 100% pay it off in the next month )
  3. Stream. Same place I watched Game Night. May just be a not-so-great HDR movie.
  4. Yes, but you shouldn't wait months to pay your CC to increase your CS. My CCs have an APR ranging from 19%-25%. My other bills increase my CS as well as holding 0% interest balances for a few months prior to payment. Using a CC to "get points" and then waiting to pay the balance is just silly since your interest rate is likely higher than the amount you "get back" via points. That was the entire point of my reply. EDIT: I just checked and it actually does list a "previous statement balance" even though I always pay within 3-5 days of using it. So... Yea.
  5. Those HDMI 2.1 compliant AMD cards will look a lot better to gamers who play on TVs if nVidia doesn't follow suit. The current consoles, except the Xbone X (which is supposedly already HDMI 2.1 compliant, or at least mostly, and just needs a firmware update to "unlock" all of the features), won't work with the majority of HDMI 2.1 features, as the new bandwidth standard will be needed to carry HDR with 4k during VRR. I know that the VRR HDMI2.1 standard is similar to Freesync, but I don't think it's actually Freesync, just that it uses the same "idea" and is not based on hardware (GSync requires a physical module installed into the display).
  6. My credit score is around 820, so whatever I'm doing is apparently working.
  7. But then you're paying interest which negates your aforementioned earned points. I do all my Amazon purchases via my Amazon CC to get 5% back, but I pay off the balance within 3 days of purchase.
  8. Yes, because nVidia chooses not to support Freesync and only Gsync. The problem being, as I mentioned in my post, the VRR standard for HDMI 2.1 will not be GSync and likely is more akin to Freesync. Thus, nVidia needs to support HDMI 2.1 standards for VRR or gamers may begin flocking to other video cards. Also, https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-EL2870U-3840x2160-Brightness-Intelligence/dp/B078HWN5CX/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1531429056&sr=8-1&keywords=freesync+hdr+4k You're also not going to see above 60hz for HDR 4k since 60hz is the current limit until HDMI 2.1 and the next DP version release which will allow 120hz
  9. Huh. I was legitimately disappointed in Ready Player One, though, it could be because I watched it in HDR10 instead of Dolby Vision...?
  10. nVidia very much needs to embrace whatever the HDMI 2.1 standard for VRR is, or many gamers may bail for a different brand. I very much want a new VRR 4k HDR monitor, and I can get a Freesync one for $400. GSync? Cheapest (and only) option is $2000 which is several hundred more than I paid for my 65” LG OLED 4k HDR TV.
  11. It’s refurbished by LG, the issues you’re mentioning tend to occur with in-house refurbished items (ie: if Walmart tried to fix and resell these themselves). When it’s manufacturer refurbished they completely replace any damaged part of the item (ie: if there’s burn-in then the entire panel is replaced for a new one). I would never buy an in-house refurbished item.
  12. What year/model is your 55"? If it's a 2016 model I would say "DO IT" since the anti-burn-in tech on the 2017/2018 is supposedly leaps and bounds better by comparison... though, I'd say "DO IT" if your current is a 2017 too since those 10 inches make a world of difference.
  13. It's refurbed by LG, not used, so it's as good as new. Big difference between used vs refurbished; on a manufacturer refurb, they replace everything/anything that's damaged or not working and also include a mini-warranty.
  14. BTW - This is the same panel/bezel of the B7A (which is $2.3k refurbished) but has the superior sound of the C7A - so, it sits in between the two (same PQ on all 3, the C7 just has a black trim and the aforementioned soundbar attached - they all have the same panel/processor/etc ).
  15. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Refurbished-LG-65-Class-OLED-4K-2160p-HDR-Smart-LED-TV-OLED65B7P/732293936?u1=7fe4ddb2-dafc-4217-9511-a6f052900674&oid=582776.1&wmlspartner=oelFIBIMgTk&sourceid=31677106540482063133&affillinktype=10&veh=aff Manufacturer Refurbished Crazy good deal if you’re on the fence about going 4k. This is basically what the 55” goes for and, AFAIK, there’s very little difference between the 2017 B7 and the 2018 C8 PS: Mods, I have no f’n clue where to put this. Maybe “sales/deals” should get its own prefix for the VG board since it’s the most populated? I didn’t want to put this on the Entertainment board since the VG board is more popular and I did not want someone missing this deal.
  16. Ethanol is a terrible gasoline replacement whether it's sugar or corn. A car running E85 (via a tune if the engine is E85 ready, which is typically 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) will get ~70-80% of the mpg of gasoline... and it costs more per gallon (without subsidies). Electric vehicles are certainly the future and where money should be invested.
  17. The term "fake" has a much harsher connotation than this site should be using as in the description it does tell you whether or not it looks good too. For example, it lists Disney's Coco as "Fake 4k" BUT states: And for Thor: Ragnarok: So, it does at least state whether or not the "fake 4k" is still a good/worthwhile transfer. I just think that "fake" is a more offputting term than they should be using.
  18. I greatly enjoyed my rental of "Game Night" in UHD Dolby Vision. It doesn't have a lot of "OMG" scenes, but low-lighting in the movie definitely shows the capable differences in the way the actors are lit in scenes in regards to fade and shadows... Plus, OMFG is that movie funny. BTW, @Mercury33 , I'm guessing the rental info I found prior in this thread is outdated as UHD rentals on Vudu are the same price as HD; just $5.99 for new movies in 4k Dolby Vision, and some are cheaper (ie: Thor Ragnarok is just $2.99 right now in UHD DV).
