  1. All General and Flag Officers are Senate Confirmed. During confirmation one of the quick routine questions is along the lines of "Under oath do swear to give the Congress your unbiased professional military opinion?" My question, if the President of the United States is nuts, does a General Officer have an obligation to inform the Congress given that sworn statement? You're not going to change the nuclear command structure. Deterrence requires it be quick and difficult to decapitate. What needs to change is our political institutions willingness to use it's authority. Milley can't get in a room with McConnel and Schumer during the impeachment to inform them the President is dangerous?
  2. They don't care about the spending, they care about the taxes on corporations.
  3. There was a reddit thread the other day about a family conflict over institutionalizing a disabled 15 year old. Not one, including a bunch of nurses who commented, mentioned Home and Community Based Services even being an option. The simple concept of taking the money that would go to a nursing home and applying it to care in the family's home was foreign to them. It was really disturbing to see 27k upvotes supporting the institutionalization of a 15 year old based on the phrase "severely disabled who requires 24/7 care", that's literally me. Also the notion that nursing home staff are "professionals". It was really eye opening for me to see the ignorance and down right ableism on full display. But as @Iculussaid, this is America,
  4. Phony Diagnoses Hide High Rates of Drugging at Nursing Homes - The New York Times WWW.NYTIMES.COM At least 21 percent of nursing home residents are on antipsychotic drugs, a Times investigation found. If only a bill existed to get people out of nursing homes...
  5. Democrats Discuss Scaling Back A Key Caregiving Initiative By Half -- Or More | HuffPost WWW.HUFFPOST.COM A proposed expansion of services for the elderly and people with disabilities faces major budget pressure. Fuckkkk that
  6. Military subreddit threads about the mandate have been a blast to read. Military regulations are pretty air tight, especially the religious exemption where you can get in deep shit if you lie. Commander's options range from Other than Honorable Discharge, all the way to Court Martial or forcible vaccination (2 MPs hold you down while a military doctor vaccinates you).
  7. My mom's COVID test came back negative and the school district reupped the mask mandate, good day.
  8. My mom has a sore throat and cough... If it is COVID she either got it last weekend from our neighbors or my Dad brought it home from the grocery store on Wednesday. My Dad and I have no symptoms of any kind. She's getting tested tomorrow.
  9. Maybe this whole nursing home thing is a bad idea... If only there was a thing in the Reconciliation bill to clear Medicaid HCBS waiting lists...
  10. Why not break the bill up into pieces that can be voted on individually? Force them to vote down the Child Tax Credit, then Climate, then SSI, then HCBS. Make the issue the policies not the price tag.
  11. Part of me wonders if one of these lawsuits will never go forward since providers first have to do an abortion.
  12. I think it's because courts can't overturn laws, only the enforcement. Without a State Official enforcing the law, it has to wait until someone sues a provider, then it'll work its way through the courts.
