  1. Is this him insinuating that he's important enough to get Epstein'd?
  2. Most of the Filipinos I know got out via joining the Navy when we had the bases over there. From the stories I heard from them, very few came from wealthy/affluent Filipino families.
  3. I mean sure, but are they asking to see their vaccination status because that's the real affront to a person's liberty.
  4. What are the odds that between the losses and the fact that all of Europe seems to be piling on this causes Putin to lash out and do something reckless? Whether that be trying to trigger a larger war, or using larger bombs that kill more civilians.
  5. Yeah, I think all of the artists I mentioned weren't on Spotify and then they were. Swift pulled her music and then came back and they made a big deal out of it. My point is that they've lost HUGE (by today's standards) artists in the past (albeit for a limited time) and have been fine. I also think Podcasts are a big part of their strategy over the last 5 years. The Joe Rogan licensing deal is one of a few moves they made in the podcast space. They bought The Ringer from Bill Simmons and they are home to their podcasts now, although I still listen to most of those on Google Podcasts.
  6. I really doubt that there is a "tipping point" for Spotify in terms of artists they are willing to lose. They've already been without Taylor Swift and I think The Beatles and Prince and they did just fine. I would think that those artists move the needle more than the Joni Mitchell's and Neil Young's of the world, in terms of what artists get streams on their platform.
  7. We're in San Diego, California. That is basically making the same point I was making. This isn't going to be the worst surge of covid deaths because not as many people are going to die, even though the number of people hospitalized might end up higher than it was at the peak. But I don't even think that is going to happen. From what I understand even the people that are being hospitalized are not spending as much time in the hospital as they were in previous waves of the virus. I just don't know how the type of histrionics displayed in the tweet are helpful in any way.
  8. I could be very, very wrong, but I don't think this omicron surge is going to result in the worst surge of Covid deaths. My wife's hospital isn't even at half of the number of patients that they were at the height of the initial 2020 surge and they're getting much better outcomes. This reads like unnecessarily alarmist clout seeking.
  9. Peter Navarro: Trump Distributed Bogus Election Fraud Research to ‘Every’ Congressional Republican WWW.ROLLINGSTONE.COM Former Trump trade adviser Peter Navarro discusses his involvement in the plan to get Mike Pence to block the 2020 election certification. My takeaways from this were: 1). Peter Navarro's brain is fucking fried. He's insane; 2). Trump had no idea what the fuck was going on behind the scenes; 3). I kind of believe Navarro when he says that if the Capitol riot never happened that the Green Bay Sweep that they had outlined may have worked and they will arguably be more emboldened and more capable of pulling something similar off in 2024.
  10. Country-level factors dynamics and ABO/Rh blood groups contribution to COVID-19 mortality WWW.NATURE.COM Scientific Reports - <ArticleTitle Language="En" OutputMedium="All" xml:lang="en">Country-level factors dynamics and ABO/Rh blood... I think this study shows that people with a B+ blood type tend to fair better when dealing with Covid. This is what they've been saying for awhile now, but it sounds like they were able to determine that blood type stands out over many other indicators. At least, that's what I think this says.
  11. I think you're letting the online mob off the hook for the SDGE firing. The guy has a segment in a doc that is on Hulu that goes over what happened to him. As for the alternative, what's wrong with not jumping to conclusions and investigating things thoroughly in the face of public pressure? For instance, when I get cut off in traffic or someone does something stupid while I'm driving, I instinctually throw the "Okay" sign. Like "okay, buddy, good fucking job you idiot" but because I'm white passing (Mom is an Indonesian immigrant), if someone sees that and shares it, I could be labeled a white supremacist. That world seems fucked up in a very different way than what you're describing as the world you don't want to live in.
  12. What's your take on this guy? SDG&E Employee Fired Over Alleged White Supremacist Hand Sign is a Latino – La Prensa San Diego LAPRENSA-SANDIEGO.ORG Everything that I've seen/read seems to indicate that he was really fucked by the internet outrage culture. There's also that story about the USC professor: How a Mild-Mannered USC Professor Accidentally Ignited Academia's Latest Culture War WWW.LAMAG.COM Dr. Greg Patton's use of a Chinese word that sounds like a slur to American ears led to calls for his dismissal Are these the exception to the rule? Or am I missing something about these specific cases?
  13. Yeah, I was saying that your thread title was better because it was a maddenism.
  14. I think Jason's title is pretty close to a Madden-ism. https://twitter.com/jadande/status/1215013100849704963?s=20
  15. Yeah, I'm having people around me catch it too that are fully vaxxed. Really getting nervous about my wife catching it. She's 26 weeks on Wednesday and I just want us to get to at least 30 before we would have to deal with this shit. How is your family doing? Anyone have anything more than a Cold? How are you feeling?
  16. I have alot of friends that are nurses and I've seen them flood their social with holiday gatherings. In person, unmasked with alcohol. It's definitely a recipe for covid spread. All of that said, I completely understand their need to get together and blow off steam. It's no different than my own. They aren't fucking robots and the shit some of the nurses on the Covid ward have gone through would probably break me. I'm sure these EMTs are the same, but if you're emts are anything like ours, they're doing it for shit wages. I've taken to lurking the r/nursing and some of the stories there are just completely batshit insanity. Dr.'s and nurses are leaving the profession, probably in record numbers right now because of the shit sandwiches they are having to eat on a daily basis. I've read about them watching patients die, being punched by anti-vaxx family members that just lost their family member to covid, on top of that they are having people come into covid wards and threaten a mass shooting. This shit is wild.
  17. What are the odds of either of us getting long covid? According to that article not great. From the article: This is among healthcare workers. That has to put those people in a higher risk group than either of us (unless you're a healthcare worker). That said, even those healthcare workers had a .47 chance of getting long-haul covid. If your point is that the chance isn't 0, you're absolutely right. There is a tiny chance that you could get long-haul covid and then a smaller chance that down the road this could be the primary cause or contributor to your stroke or heart attack. But aren't we getting into "the vaccinations cause myocarditis" levels of probability here?
  18. Everything that I've seen is that if you're vaxxed and(or) boosted and you get a breakthrough, the worst you're looking at is a bad cold, if anything at all. I also haven't seen anything that indicates that Omicron is causing heavy covid symptoms or hospitalizations. This is something to celebrate, right?
  19. I'm guessing (hoping) this is a joke that I just couldn't get. But if not, why would you wish that on anyone?
