Moa Posted October 23, 2020 Share Posted October 23, 2020 Man, this was one of my least favorite Pulitzer winners in a long time. Spoiler It felt like the thempark MMO of books. Every section was just Cora moving to a new unique racial dystopia and then bad things inevitably happening to every character she meets. The inevitability of a bad outcome really removed whatever narrative tension there was and I found it hard to get invested in any characters after the pattern established itself early in the novel.
