Coder(s) spends 1,200 hours reverse-engineering Diablo 1's source code, posts it on GitHub

I read a little bit about this on kotaku/reddit. They said it would make the game easier to mod? Which would be cool, bezelbub is a cool expansion/mod, but it ramps the difficulty up to 15/10. There is a couple other minor UI mods that make it more tolerable to play on modern PCs. Sadly D1 probably doesn’t have much interest from the community.

It's really cool and generous that someone was willing to spend so much time on this, but it also kind of blows my mind that someone would spend this much time remaking a game which is over 20 years ( ) old. Is the modding community that active for the original Diablo?

As far as I know, no it’s not really active at all. You have beelzebub/HD Mod which adds a ton of content but ramps up the difficulty to 15/10. Then you have some minor graphics mods that make the game more playable on modern devices. The game doesn’t play very well with wider screens. It breaks how enemies work when you extend it out, you can snipe enemies without ever being attacked.
