Star Blazers: Space Battle Ship Yamato 2199 US Blu Ray

Recommended Posts

For me this original 70's series is what got me into Anime.  The updated series came out in Japan a couple of years ago and really liked it.  I even got some imported versions (still can't tell if real or copies) so I am happy to see an official release is happening here in the States.  I ordered my copy.

BB has cheaper price

But for those that rather go with Amazon

I know they talked about it but didn't know 2202 was released yet.  Might have to go check on that.

Just make sure you watch the connecting film Space Battleship Yamato 2199: Odyssey of the Celestial Ark as it helps understand season 2. It's meant to be watched after season 1 but before season 2. It's not available in the US (may never be) but I'm sure you can find a way to watch it as I did. :p

I collected the original Japanese releases with the limited slip covers, and it pains me that the sequel series didn't get English subs on the Japanese discs =(

Yeah half of the disks I got had the slip cover the other half didn't and think those were the bogus ones.  But at least it was watchable.  Now I can have a real set.

Since the slips were limited you might not have any bootlegs. Like, I bought all my discs after they had mostly all been released and really had to hunt down the slips through Japanese auction sites. Once I can get my stuff unpacked from a move, I can take some pics of them if you wanna compare yours =)
