crispy4000
As always, those Nintendo numbers also don't count digital sales. Fair to say that December was their month.
TwinIon
It's so easy for me to forget how gigantic COD and the various sports games continue to be. They just hold so little of the cultural conversation that I'm aware of. I hardly see articles about them, they don't top out twitch or get parodied on SNL, but year in and year out they keep selling.

A lot of reviewers and board members (whether it'd Reddit, here, Reset, GAF, Waypoint, wherever) are filled with core gamers, so they don't hold as much discussion here, but what's discussed misses plenty of popular games. Monster Hunter, God of War, Red Dead, Super Smash, Spider-Man, Assassin's Creed, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, and Mario Odyssey obviously overlap.
