SaysWho?
You can see how mortality rates have changed year-by-year easily on this interactive map. 538 does really cool, in-depth projects like this. You could spend a long time on this.
SaysWho?
AIDS is probably the most interesting so far since there were no records early, it surged and then it quickly came down in the 90s.
mclumber1
A remarkable increase in life expectancy, brought on by better medicine and lower murder rates. It would probably be even better over the course of that time period if we never instituted the war on fat - which got us (more) addicted to sugar. Link200
I find the All Cancers one a good indication. Going form 1980 to 2014 shows a visible decline overall. The only place that hasn't really gotten better is the south. That seems to be the trend for most medical related items on the list. The south seems to do better in other areas though. outsida
If you look under “Forces of nature, war, or legal intervention” you see huge blooms for years 2001(9/11), 2005(Katrina), and 2011(Super outbreak of tornadoes). It’s funny how we didn’t declare war on global warming after the later two events.
