It's telling the same story as the film Alive (starring Ethan Hawke from 1993) is telling, but based on an entirely different book. Alive was based on the 1974 novel "Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors" by Piers Paul Read whereas Society of Snow is based on a Spanish book that translates to "Society of the Snow" by Pablo Vierci (which I have not read). J.A. Bayona, who is directing Society of Snow (he did The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls, and the second Jurassic World movie - all good to great movies except for garbage Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and he apparently did over 100 hours of interviews with the living survivors and loved the book, etc. It's a crazy story, should be good.
