It quickly became clear that Microsoft was not changing anything about the online access portion of Gold in the move to “Core,” nor was it updating Console Game Pass either.

 

 

Kind of a dumb take.  Making every console version of Games Pass include multiplayer would simplify things, but it wouldn't take away the larger hypocrisy of that chart.  Namely that PC multiplayer on their network is free.

 

Also, Microsoft isn't triple dipping.  They're not your ISP.


In a some weird way, the "Console" tier is for people like me who could be temped by a subscription library, but refuse to pay for multiplayer.  So maybe it's good that choice exists.  Still, being more expensive than PC for less stuff is some BS.
