  1. The casting for the movies was really good(except hermione and second dumbledore) but I think the only character that would have a real uphill climb to winning people over is whoever they cast for Snape. Good luck my dude.

People underestimate fans willingness to accept new actors in rolls. As long as they’re good they’ll be accepted within the first few episodes.

Have you seen such turnarounds with a beloved, classic IP where the fans loved the original movies? This would be like remaking Lord of the Rings movies, which would be sacrilege, which is why Amazon didn't court fate by remaking LOTR and instead focused on the Second Age.

I have never cared about Harry Potter, so I don't care about a reboot or remake, but I'd definitely feel it is too soon if I was a fan.

There’s a bit of a difference in that those movies(especially the extended editions) are near flawless adaptions of the books. You really can’t do much better.

Harry Potter movies, while certainly beloved, are objectively bad adaptions of the books. I think Harry Potter fans would love to see a more accurate adaptation and it’s HBO, they’ll crush it.

Watched Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and it’s really punching above its’ weight class. Yeah, even more than the Shrek films, this is aimed more at kids, but my lord the filmmaking goes hard. It’s more than just the slightly cell shaded art style, or the animation, and it’s more than just some tricks with the frame rate, this film is a gem. They do an incredible job with the action choreography and the voice cast, and there are some fun jokes in there. It’s an impressive piece of work that plenty of movies not aimed at children could learn from.

I forgot to post here when I saw it but yeah, I agree with all of this. The movie was outstanding, incredibly entertaining for adults in a less “low hanging fruit” way that the Shrek movies are. Arguably my favorite movie I’ve seen so far this year.

I think there is a better version of The Village out there if Shyamalan had a good co-writer. The final 15 minutes (not just the twist) aren’t a fulfilling conclusion to what came before it for me.

I’ve always thought Shyamalan could be great if he had a writing partner who actually edited and wrote the scripts from Shyamalan’s ideas. And then Shyamalan did the directing. I LOVE the style and feel of all his movies and the ideas always seem interesting. Just the way they play out is usually odd.

  5. Yeah I despise Signs. What a piece of shit that movie is. Swing Away 🙄 fuck off.

Lady in the Water wasn’t good but I didn’t hate it. I actually enjoy The Happening. I don’t know why. I just do haha.

The Village I would put in the Great category. People just got mad at it because they got tricked by the purposefully misleading advertising.

  6. We’re really going to get hung up on how realistic the evolution of Ted’s soccer knowledge is?

I viewed Zava more as a Ibrahimović more than Messi or Ronaldo. So it wouldn’t be crazy for an American to not really know him.

Also it JUST dawned on me this season that Rupert is ALSO Rupert from Buffy 🤯
