I’m soooo happy he is stupid enough to be blatant - Imagine someone with this much wealth and power that wasn’t a fucking idiot, the damage they could do!

There are plenty, you just hear about the morons.  Everyone knows who Jeff Bezos is, but you don't hear so much about what he does.  The GOP is well funded and most of their benefactors don't get on social media to whine about people being unfair to Nazis.

Most Americans are still drinking the neo liberal Kool-Aid so they don’t question it.

I think most Americans just don't hear about it, also a lot of people just kind of figure bad things won't happen to them.  The pundits never mention it because they're a bunch of useless spectators of news who don't need a real job as long as they say the things to make their rich benefactors happy.

A group of four state Republican lawmakers threatened to strip the state judiciary of its jurisdiction to hear cases related to Issue 1, the ballot measure approved by voters Tuesday.

    Quote

The Ohio Republicans said state lawmakers "will consider removing jurisdiction from the judiciary over this ambiguous ballot initiative. The Ohio legislature alone will consider what, if any, modifications to make to existing laws based on public hearings and input from legal experts on both sides."

That's bold, but then again they just kind of ignored the rulings from the Ohio Supreme Court when it came to redistricting

  4. As usual from what I've seen the Republicans are learning the wrong lessons.  I saw a few of the media people saying that the GOP went loser with McDaniel becoming the chair... not getting that their problems might be an elderly crook with bad makeup.

In Ohio they blamed Ohioans being confused by the amendment wording and massive advertising money for the Issue 1 win.  Not the fact that the anti-abortion stuff is unpopular.

Yes, but have you considered Newt Gingrich's sage wisdom?

Former GOP Speaker Newt Gingrich says that Tuesday's elections will serve as a "fascinating test" of whether President Biden's low approval ratings sink Democrat turnout.

    Quote

"This is a fascinating test, first of all because Gov. Youngkin has done a great job, he's at about 57% approval, so he's bringing a lot to the table, and he has raised a fair amount of money," Gingrich said. "The Democrats understand if they lose badly tonight in Virginia that's a terrible omen for 2024 and will increase the demand that Biden quit running for reelection."

In Bridgeport, Conn., a judge found evidence of mishandled ballots in the Democratic primary for mayor and ordered a revote. But first, the city will hold a general election. After that? Stay tuned.

I don't get it.  I vote absentee in Ohio every year.  The ballot is in an envelope that has my info printed on it, that I also have to fill out and sign.  The Ohio SoS website has a tracker so I can check to make sure the county Board of Elections has my ballot and it's slated to be counted on election day.  They don't just open the box and count everything shoved in.  I figure if Ohio does this then at least the East Coast has been doing it longer.

    Oh, it's an unmitigated nightmare.

Fuck me, $200 to Greg Landsman(I always gave money to anyone running against Chabot) last year and I'm still wrestling with it.  I'm thinking of using a Firefox Relay or Simple Login email for political donations in the future, just kill that thing after election day.

My understanding is that the legislature could alter the exact provisions contained within ballot initiative, but they can't "ignore" it.

    I'll need some of our Ohio-based posters to weigh-in though - @Chairslinger @finaljedi?

From what I gather they could tweak it and make it worse, people think it's unlikely though.  The GOP in this state got a bit of a slap tonight after the one in August, I can't see them wanting to continue poking at the Ohio electorate.
